I have about 500 E-mails in there and I just don't have the energy to read them all right now. I also know that throughout the day tomorrow I will probably get at least 100 more. Is it ok to let them build up in there? How many is unsafe? I mean can your computer crash if there are too many?

Oh, it is not junk mail. I am a member of a site and get questions & answers from a forum I am interested in for new work, so they come into my mailbox. I really do need to look at them because it is a chance to find extra work.

Depends. If it's web based email, like Yahoo or Gmail, then the email isn't actually on your computer so it's not taking up any space.

If you're using some sort of other email that actually puts the email on your computer (though I can't think of one that does this) then the only limit is the amount of space your computer's hard drive has. Generally emails are very small unless there's a picture, video or other file attached to it so there's probably no need to worry. Just delete them when you get around to it.

What you should do is glance over and delete the junk (check it off to delete) and read at least 20 emails a day, and you should be alright. You can also block some of the emails. I'm not sure if your computer crashes or not, but I know it can totally screw up your email.

Depending on the size, and what program you are using, Outlook they say has about a 2GB limit before it spits the dummy and can crash and do all weird things.

In Outlook if your right click the personal folders tab, go to properties, then you will see a tab called folder size, this tells you the total size of all your folders.

Number wise, if you have lots of large emails with attachments you do run the risk of reaching this limit a lot faster.

your email program has a certain limit. your computer will be just fine, but your email will make you delete some if you run out of space
