How does it work; what are the best steps to take and how to get started are some questions? I am over-whelmed!

I've been performing mystery shops for a few years now. I signed up with a few online places. It took a while to get onboard. They will email shop information and will asign shops based on the response. With one company, I am assigned shops each month and can accept or decline the shop.

When you get a shop assignment, you are given instructions, a location, time etc. You go, interact with associates, eat food, make purchases - whatever the shop calls for. You normally use your own money. Then you complete the assignment by answering a questionaire.

Payment is usually made by check or by PayPal. You're reimbursed as agreed. Usually a reimbusement for all or part of any purchase and then paid a stipend for the shop.

There are certifications you can get. They say that you are more likely to be assigned a shop with them. I do it as a fun distraction and have had as many shops as I've ever wanted without any certifications.

Over-whelmed? Sorry that seems a little odd. I think some mystery shopper jobs might be scams. But if you have a real mystery shopper job it should be fairly simple.

I take it you mean you are trying to get work as a mystery shopper? My experience is you sign up & are likely to never, ever be contacted as they have so many people that sign up & they are after a particular demographic to match their product & you need to live in the area of their client. When I eventually was contacted by one the pay was only $10 for an hours work so who could be bothered? Be wary as they usually ask for you bank details up front so make sure you're dealing with an established and legitimate mystery shopping organisation.

Also they are more likely to deal with you if you have a management job (I do but as I say I was contacted with one US$10 job to evaluate Subway & that was it after joining for 2 years.

If they are asking you to pay money to sign up, DON'T DO IT. Some of them ask this & then never contact you because you never fall into the demographic for their client.

Yes, it can be overwhelming. I spent too much time with it. A lot of work for little pay, you might get to keep some cool stuff every now and then if you find the right company. If it doesn't work out, see my profile since yahoo doesn't like for us to relay links. You don't have to stock or deliver. Good Luck!
