Who determines what is and is not a violation?
I received an email that my question was deleted because it was a violation and I have no idea why. I simply asked what the terms "cookie, cracker, biscuit" mean in different places that posters may be from. I asked because I am from Texas where a biscuit means a fluffy dough thing and I went to India where they call all cookies and some crackers biscuits. I was wondering where else this is common.
Here is the email I received. Can anyone tell me who determines this and what I can do to respond since obviously someone is just trying to mess with me:

Either someone reported you out of spite, or possibly the term crakcker was deemed offensive, akin to other racially based slurs?

I have had "violation" notices too for equally absurd reasons. I think there are some nasty people on here who report others for no good reason. Yahoo then automatically sends you a violation notice.
I am now on Level 5 and have the power to delete answers. I have deleted the first answer under your question because the language was disgusting; it was a filthy, profane, inappropriate response.

Maybe they only read your question and missed reading the details. So just the first part of your question appeared incomplete?
I had a bunch of my questions deleted as violations, the weirdest ones for "gaming" points or posting a funny picture asking for a caption that may have been deemed as inappropriate.
There is a chance someone thought you were "fishing" to incite "racist" comments using "cracker" as a reference to "whites." So maybe someone complained and had it deleted?

...good question.
who do determine what is and what is not a violation..?
i think the person should appear before us with a gavel or a gun or at least a piece of paper that shows the ominpotence of this person or collectivity.
quite disconcerting .... especially if you are a writer or an earnest inquisitor / respondent.
are inquisitors dead ...? is that why they take points away rather than reward the person .?
are satirists dead...?
gosh...i will be killed twice.
and i don't even own a weapon of self-defence.
heck...they won't even give me a lawyer for violations against me and mine.
sigh...........my time is nigh to close
why...........these eyes nay lie not froze
and cry.....and cry......and cry
yet no doctor may i buy.
bye bye

LOL! Dont worry about it. I get lots of violations. I actually look forward to getting them. A lot of times I think it is a matter of personal opinion as for as determining what a violation is.

Well, most people would find that to be spam or something because you didn't give in too much detail.
You get a violation when people report you, I have like 12 or something.

Anyone reports your answer or question, then you get a violation. I think people just report things for the hell of it. Stupid. I got one that said my answer was not an answer. Uh ok... whatever. Just shrug it off and keep at it ;)
