I was in the army too and was deployed...Well I was there at the beginning of the second war in Iraq, in 2003 and i had similar dreams, I think it is natural I wouldn't worry too much about it.....I didn't get shot but I did sustain an injury though! I am a woman and I was apart of the 3rd infantry division. And we were very close to the front lines We could hear the bombs and feel the earth shake when we attacked cities every night, most of the night. I was very scared and did have dreams about Iraqi's sneaking into our camp and getting shot. I had allot of dreams about the sand storms too! if you do go be prepared to get sand in your crack and in places you never thought existed. But don't worry too much about the dreams. You should be fine! And just pray! Oh and your flack vest isn't bullet proof, it is only to protect you from shrapnel

Dreams are a funny thing. Some dreams seem to come true while others don't. They come from our subconscious minds.
For example, before I learned to drive, I used to dream about being in a car that went out of control down the road. Dreams stopped whe I learned to drive. Then I kept having dreams of drowning, then I became a scuba diver and those dreams stopped. Then I had dreams of falling from high places, then I got a pilot's license and those dreams went from falling to flying.
I think your dreams reflect your concerns. They don't mean something is going to happen, just that you are concerned they might. As you feel more in control of your situation, these dreams will become less. At the same time, re-enforce your knowledge and training and do the best you can to bolster your self confidence and learn how to be safe out there. The odds are very low that something will happen to you, but you also want to take advantage of every opportunity to protect and prepare yourself for duty there.
Take care!

Deploy to Afganistan instead......... See a councilor right away, you could benifit from some one on one time. This could be you fear coming through in your dreams and talking about it could make the dreams go away. If the dream persists, after that, do everything you can to prevert deployment to Iraq. I don't think pregnant woman are aloud to deploy to a combate zone. Just a thought.

I think it is natural to have these kinds of concerns given your situation and the situation over there. When you are there, you need to focus in on your job and responsibilities.
I think it was in Point Break where Patrick Swayze's character says...'Fear causes hesitation and hesitation causes your worst nightmares to become a reality.'
I really respect what you are doing and appreciate you and everybody else over there. I will pray for you and everybody else there to get the job done and come home safely. Thank you.

Don't worry. It's normal to dream those types of things especially in your situation. My boyfriend is an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran and both he and I had dreams about him getting killed while over there. He made it home fine! Good luck and stay safe. I hope you don't get deployed, but if you do good luck.

If you are worried about this you may want to consider becoming a "conscientious objector". Look up the term with a web search and it'll point you to organizations which will tell you how to do it.

That's not so uncommon, actually. Don't worry, it doesn't mean anything. You're just stressing over your upcoming situation. Use what you have been taught, and you'll be fine. You'll tell your grandchildren about this deployment!

You're afraid, who wouldn't be? Try to stay calm, just because you dream something doesn't mean it will happen. I applaud you for even signing up.
