My goldfish is on the bottom right side of the tank on her side she hasn't moved from that place all day she is breathing normal but she just lays there is she dying? If so is there a safe way to put her to sleep. I can't stand it seeing her suffer like this.

She is very perky but not enough strength to swim She keeps crashing into the rocks and lands on her side she lies there for 10 to 15 minutes then tries again I don't know what to do I'm afraid she might kill herself if she keeps hitting the rocks also I have her in a Hospital tank I just bought yesterday.

My god people are heartless!!!!! Don't flush it!!!! Or do anything else to kill it! It's not dead. How would you like to have someone do something like that to you before you were dead just because you were a little sick?!!!? You haven't given us enough information to even begin to help you, but here is a link of diseases. Read it! See if any of them match what your fish is doing. Then treat the poor thing, just like you would hope someone would do for you if you were sick. It may not be sick. It could be sooo many things. It could be something as simple as stress, which will go away if your tank conditions are proper. How big is your tank? Do you have a filter? Do you have an aerator? How have you been feeding it? Read the section on cycling a tank. Read the section on goldfish food. Having a pet and taking care of it is no different than the responsibility that comes with taking care of a child. You made a committment to that animal to take care of it. It is not easy, but you have made that committment.

i usedo had a gold fish did the same thing too but later on i notice that she wasnt dead at all . she was asleep but next day she was alright she was swimming again. well there is only way that you can know that the fish is dying if it flowing on top of the water not moving . but if youre fish just laying down or laying side of the tank i think its just alonley that needed a friend to play with or its just not feeling well. maybe you should go take it to the pet smart store ask some body who knows about fishes how to do some thing about it by takecaring the fish . then you should call the vet for check up . if youre fish isnt alive then there isonly way to take care of it by flush the poor fish in the toilet or you can make a furnnal of a small box and dig a hole under the ground if you think its okay .

That doesn't sound good. Wait a little bit, probably overnight and if nothing has changed in the morning she will most likely die tomorrow. If you want to stop her missery, please do NOT flush her. Flushing a fish is like death by gas chamber to a human. She would only die very slowly. There is however one "humane" method. Fill a plastic bag with ice cubes and a little bit of water (way more ice than water). Put her in the bag and say goodbye. The cold water will numb her almost instantly, so she doesn't feel anything. After a few minutes she will be dead. To make sure that this happens quickly, don't leave the bag out, put it in the freezer for at least an hour.
I had to do this a few times over the past years, tropical fish like guppies will already get unconsious at a water temperature of about 55 degrees (found that out by accident, water change with too cold water).

Good Luck.

Have you changed her water at all? What size tank? What type of filter? You need to understand that goldfish are somewhat like the slobs of aquarium world, as they excrete a lot of ammonia and it isn't hard for them to foul their water. You must keep up on water changes, but don't change a large amount if you have not done that. Change about one quarter of it, and then another quarter in 24 hours after she adjusts. Make sure the temp is the same and you dechlorinate the water or use bottled if you can. Is the water too hot? Goldfish prefer colder water, not like tropical fish... 72 Fahrenheit is recommended.

If you want to euthanize her, you can put her in a container filled with ice water, as that will shock her so bad she will not feel pain. Make sure it is full of ice and is very cold, and leave her there. Her body will go into a hibernation sort of, and she will pass away quickly.

The most humane way to kill a fish is to put it into the freezer and let it get frozen. Then u can flush or anything else u like with the frozen fishie. Id try a little salt in the water also and see whether that improves things

I don't think she's dying. My roommate had a gold fish for 10 years which spent heaps of time on the bottom of her tank. For years. I would keep an eye on your goldfish, if she's floating sideways, then you should start to worry. I hope this helps.

poor punkin could just have a cold or something. get some melafix and put it in the tank -- its like cold medicine for fish.

check her for anything at all that looks abnormal.

it could be swim bladder -- try feeding her some cooked green peas with the skins removed. chop them up small enough that she can eat them easily.

Its a FISH, flush it. Go to your local pet store and buy another.

However, if you have more fish in this one tank, take a water sample to your pet store and have them test it.

How long has she been in this tank?

When was your last water change?

How are the other fish in the tank?

Before buying a new fish, look at these questions and ask yourself if your offering a safe environment for your fish.
