This tiny blessing will absolutely live and probably have size 13 shoes when he is in college. How do I know this, because I was in a car accident when I was only 25 weeks along, not my fault. Anyway, long story short I went to the hospital and spent awhile there. I am not saying it was easy for me or my son but with alot of praying he was finally born. He weighed 2lbs 6 oz and the next week he lost weight. He went down to 1lb 5 oz. This was not an unusual occurrence for the hospital I was in. They were use to babies being preemies at only a few ounces. Unbelievable as it may seem. These babies are miracles, they really put up a fight. Well, they would play rock and roll music in the preemie unit to keep the babies alert too. Have faith because these little ones really are stronger than we give them credit for. Mama and Papa need to stay strong themselves so when they take their little one home they will be amazed at how quickly their son will grow. You see my son now, that weighed 1 lb 5 oz, today weighs 180lbs and wears that size 13 shoe and is over 6 ft tall. So don't be afraid for her, she will be fine and have her hands full when she gets home. Next time you go to see her, have her take her husbands shoe and put it up to her sons foot. Her son will more than fill his Father's shoes one day soon, believe me.

1.) You are 16. Your never the type that gets into trouble. Your shy, and very smart, but you make a BIG mistake. You get pregnant with your boyfriend, Jaycen. The pregnancy is terrible. You get made fun of, get slapped around and your parents kick you out. Finally the day arrives. You give birth in your boyfriends car 2 weeks early. It's a little girl! She weighs 5 pounds 11 oz. She is soo tiny! She has Blue eyes, and dark brown hair. She is a beautiful baby! What do you name this baby girl? Girl: Ella Rose 2.) Your are 19 and your still with Jaycen. Your first born girl is now 3 years old. You find out your pregnant. You are unsure about your feelings. You have no job, and live in a crappy 1 bedroom apartment. The real shocker is when you find out your having twins. You are happy but yet very upset. You dont know how all of you will fit in that apartment! Your now 8 months pregnant with a very risky pregnancy. You are bed ridden. One day your water breaks while Jaycen and your first born baby girl are at his parents. You get up and call 911. By the time they get there, one of the babies head is out. You deliver a tiny little boy with his cord around his neck. Next comes a little baby girl. Neither babies are breathing when you arrive at the hospital. Later Jaycen and your first born daughter come in, Jaycen is crying. You ask him whats wrong and he says that the little boy did not survive. The boy that didnt survive was 1 pound 9 oz. The cord wrapped around his neck killed him. You got to hold him. He had light brown hair. What did you name him? Thankfully the baby girl survied. She weighed 2 pounds 4 oz. Her hair is light brown. What do you name her? Boy: Hunter Elliot Girl: Ariana Claire 3.) You and Jaycen are both 26 and happily married. You first born girl is now 10 years old and your second born is 7. Jaycen is a electrition and you are still looking for a job. You have a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom home that you are renting. Life is good. you still aren't over losing your baby boy. You decide that you and Jaycen should adopt a little boy. You find a mother from china that is pregnant with a boy. The mother name is Chinn and she is beautiful. She comes to your home and stays until the baby is born. The day is here! Chinn delivers a little boy! He is 5 pounds 11 oz. He has black hair and big blue eyes. Chinn goes back to China and your little boy is all yours. What do you name him? Boy: David Michael These questions made me fall over laughing. No offense.

RE:
Will a 2 pound 2 oz baby boy survive?
One of my dearest friends delivered her baby boy last night at only 27 weeks pregnant. He weighs 2 lb 2 oz and 14" long. She had him at a large hospital and is in the NICU. Has anyone gone thru this and do you know the odds of his survival? This is her and her hubby's first baby and I...

It really depends on his development. The baby is at a stage where organs are still developing, brown fat etc. It really isn't an issue anymore with lungs with the development of Surfactant many years ago, however there is a chance that he could have issues.. This is very early for a baby to be born. He will probably be on a ventilator, placed under lights and kept in NICU at least until his original due date.
As for odds, It really does depend on how developed he is and his own constitution for survival. Online sources say he has a 50% chance, but expect it might be better since he is above the "average" weight 24 weeks.
I pray for him and your friend.

my friend had her baby about a year ago and he was 1 lb, 5 oz. they took him home 2 days after mother's day. in a bigger hospital with a good nicu there is a very good chance of survival. i believe the number they gave my friend with her very tiny one was 80% which is really remarkable considering just how small that is really. keep praying and encourage your friend to find a support group either online or at the hospitals for parents of preemies. my own was almost 2 months early and although he had a short nicu stay (10 days) leaving him there was the hardest thing i have ever gone through. i cannot imagine going through what your friend and my friend have had to. good luck!

With modern technology, the chance is very good- I was born 3 lbs 3 oz in 1980, and i did well despite being a month premature. Most children born underweight tend to stay that way, but don't suffer any long term health effects.

I had twins (boy/girl) and they were born at 26 weeks. One weighed 2lbs 14oz and the other weighed 3 lbs 1 oz. They are almost three years old now and are very healthy children. My son who was 3 lbs 1 ounce was born dead and they were able to revive him and he is healthy as can be.
I have seen even smaller babies survive but every situtation is different. They are i my prayers and I wish them the best of luck.

I hope and pray that everything goes well. With all the education docs and nurses have now im sure it will and with our prayers definetly. My friends sis had a 2 lb.1 oz baby due to placenta abbruption and her baby is now 4 months and doing well. Let me say this though the baby will be in the hosp. for quite awhile to be on the safe side. They have to get the baby to a good weight before being able to send the baby home and make sure that everything is stable. good luck...my prayers are with you.

He most likely will survive, but only his body and god will determine that. One day he might be doing great, but the next he might have major set backs. You never know with little kiddos. At least he is two pounds. As soon as he gets off of the vent and into a open crib and starts nippling feeds, he should be out of the woods, but all is determined by what issues comes up with him. They will take care of one set back at a time. Good Luck to all involved

There is a 25-30% chance for the baby. My son was born early but not that early. 27 weeks is early baby's at that age are still developing there skin eye's,liver, kidneys and have not yet learned the suck, swallow method that they need to eat. But NICU have gotin so much better then they use to be anything can happen. Pray and learn.
