My old work truck was a '98 1500 2x4. It got 14-18mpg, depending on the load.

I had two new Toyota's in the past, I traded a Chevy in to replace it with it. (for better fuel economy) The first Toyota was a 1998 Corolla, bought back under the Lemon laws in Washington state. It had less than 7,500 miles on it. The car had an electrical issue, it was in the shop more than out on the road. So, the company bought it back. I thought it was a fluke thing, so I tried the new 1999 Corolla it had a bad drivers side CV shaft, changed out at 1,100 miles, and when I filled the gas tank I think the fourth time, and came out the next day to find fuel all over the ground I traded it it on a Buick and never looked back. So you guys can keep your Toyota's, they are junk like everything else is out there. I also had a 1995 Mitsubishi Mighty Max pickup, a new engine at 15,000 miles due to a bad main bearing, then it needed a clutch later on because of the bearing/crank issue. So is a foreign car really all that much better, I dont think so. As far as Toyota building cars and trucks here the real truth is that they are only built here to save on taxes, and yes, they pay less to their employees, and every car we purchase from them means that there is a little less money left in our country. Let's just send it all over there.

Just get a receipt each time you tank up. save 5 in a row and then you can figure out your actual mileage.

I drive a 2000 Blazer 4x4 and have about 400 lbs in the rear of my work stuff. I average 17.5 mpg....if I am heavy on the foot, lucky to see 12.

GM's are some of the worse for gas milage. I've had 8 blazers in a row and each one has gotten worse and worse over the previous year. My 96 Blazer got the best at around 28 mpg.

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado (1500/LS/4x2). the sticker said 16 city/20 hwy mpg when we bought it, actual gas mileage is about 15.2 to 17.8 mpg. If I'm easy on the gas, I have seen as much as 18.9 mpg (but that is rare).

DH swears you can get better gas mileage by lowering the RPM's you drive at. Keeping it under 2000 rpms saves me about 1-1.5 mpg.

I have a 94 suburban 4x4 that gets between 11-14 with the 350. You should be higher than that with it being a newer vortec and little lighter, mine is also TBI.

I'm holding steady at about 14-15 mpg in my 1994 Chevy K-Blazer. That is a combination of city and highway travel, and the engine has 183K on it. Still runs strong though.

The big factor is .. city driving or .. highway driving.. our Suburban gets about 12-14 driving around town and 17-20 steady driving at 70 on the interstate.
