I've had no problems post delivery but today I'm having bad achy, crampy pain "down there". Any ideas on what might cause this?

As you recover from childbirth the uterus is on it's way to recovering and trying to regain its normal shape and size. These pains that you are prob. feeling are the normal post baby contractions that help the uterus shrink back to its normal size. If you happen to be breast feeding than this will help you accomplish this even more quickly. There is a hormone released when we breast feed that signals the uterus that hey it is time to start shrinking down. Also don't forget that you pushed out a baby through a space that is normally very small and narrow. Your uterus and vaginal area will go back to its normal size as it is very elastic so don't worry about that. Being sore is not a huge concern so don't worry unless you start bleeding uncontrollably if this in fact happens contact your ob/gyn immed. You can also help this process along by massaging the area where your uterus is. Congratulations on your new addition. Best of luck.

You haven't given much information about you. How heavy has your flow been since coming home? How much have you been on your feet?....doing stairs?...lifting?. Also, are you running a fever?...even a little one? Does it hurt to urinate (when you stop urinating does it hurt)? Do you have frequecy or urgency? You ned to contact your OB and let him know what is going on with you and if I have hit upon any symptom you have, let him know that. Your baby needs you to be well..so take good care of yourself.

Sometimes its normal. Take some tylenol if you are allowed... and call your doctor when you are able.
