having big hard drives is ok for a home base system but when it come to laptops that is another matter, hard drivers are very delicate and are easily damaged, one would tend to put everything on to it and if it goes down all is lost, I would tend to split hairs and go for two smaller drives and save files on both that way you have what I would call a 2, to 1 chance of not losing anything ;)
