Sometimes they appear in skits, sometimes they don't. They usually perform twice during a show- once towards the middle, and once towards the end.

you must not be very old.....Eddie Van Halen showed up in a skit when his wife Valerie Bertinali did the show. Aerosmith was on Wayne's World a few times. David Bowie did a skit too

Normally, yes. They perform twice. Half way through the show and near the end.

I thought they did regularly but then I haven't watched it lately. My favorite was when Areosmith and Tom Hanks were on Wayne's World.
