If they are in wearable condition, ie, not worn out but you have outgrown them or are just tired of them, you could have a flea market in your own front yard. Hang them up or put them in a box and let people rummage through, choose what they want and pay whatever you choose -- something like 50 cents, or whatever you want. If the clothing is worn out and not in good enough shape to be passed on, you can cut it in strips and crochet the strips into rag rugs, weave them into lap robes or blankets, or make bathmats from them. This is one of the 'Depression Years' skills, but is now accepted as cottage art.

Go to freecycle.com. They may have one in your neighborhood. If there is life left in your clothes, someone may want them. It's a way to keep things out of the dumps, and it's a lot of fun. Your trash may be someone else's treasure. So far, I've gotten a beautiful oriental rug, a leaf blower, a microwave stand, laundry and dish soap (not the cheap kind, either!), books, clothes, and many other items. You can post the clothes as an offer and see how many takers you get. You meet some really nice people, too.

in the event that they are not in sturdy subject to donate, use them as rags around the living house. you will no longer purely save money on paper towels yet in addition do a great provider to our surroundings. additionally, if there is a few advantageous fabric which you dont desire to apply as rags, are you able to're making some thing small out of it - like curtains or table textile, or maybe take it to a tailor and make infant clothing - you are able to donate those then :)

Make a quilt. Save the buttons etc and throw 'em in a jar and you have a folksy piece of art. Or ship them to New Orleans thru a church for the folks who have NONE. Be blessed.

I love taking mine to shelters for battered woman!! They need them terribly because most woman and children are forced to leave their homes with nothing but the clothing on their back!!

Much better than using them as rags!!

how about finding a womens and/or childrens shelter? (there are also churches that help their neighborhood unfortunate.) there are lots of women who can't afford to buy decent looking outfits and kids clothes, especially if they're living in a shelter. make sure they won't make the residents BUY the stuff. kinda defeats the purpose.

Women's shelters. I have donated stuff to them for years now after understanding that these women leave their homes with nothing. The woman are so grateful for clothes, shoes, toys for the kids they bring with them, sheets for beds, mattresses, etc.
