Being a 1999....and a Chevy.....I'll bet that its your fuel pump.....its due.

Just did my 2000 Blazer last fall as it left me stranded at the store.

When your fuel pump dies, it just dies, no warning. You'll drive one minute, park, try to restart and nothing.

Open the door or have someone stand back near the gas tank and turn the key....should hear a low "wurrrrrr-dik"...this is a known sound from a GM pump priming itself for the key to turn to ignition.

If you don't hear this.....your fuel pump has failed and needs replaced. There is no fuel cut off on GM's like Fords.

i dont believe there is a fuel cutoff switch like some cars have (fords) but you could be on the right track, i replace fuel pumps in those things all the time (they are inside of the fuel tank), you need to test for fuel pressure and volume, also there are fuel system fuses and relays that have to be tested as well, but if it cranks strong but wont start it is very possibly a fuel issue

Check the connectors on the floor from under the vehicle on driver side behind front seat area, your fuel pump wiring passes thru it, thay are common for water leaks. water leaks into passenger compartment soaks thru carpet and corrodes connectors. Hope this helps!!
