Is it a good idea to send the coach of a college you might want to go to and play baseball at and tell him about yourself.
If yes when is a good time.

It depends how close you are from entering college, but I still don't think it would hurt.

Staying in contact with a college coach is essential to land a position in a team. Sure, emails do work as a valuable source of communication, but many people such as I do not answer emails on time and end up checking it once every few weeks. It's better calling the coach or sending a professional letter telling him or her about your interest in joining the team. If you live around the area of that college, a visit to the coach would be good. If you know someone on that team, he or she should introduce you and stuff.

Well, I'm guessing your in HS, so it obviously can't hurt your chances. First, try calling the college and get brochures about their sports programs. These might have some info. you need. Then, call them again and ask them if you could have his number or email because you wish to speak to him about the sports programs. Tell him about yourself, and make sure he knows your interested. Finally, (if the college is close enough) try to meet him in person and have him take a look at your abilities.

Well first of all. You got to know the coaches number. And i don't think College coaches just let there e-mails go out in public... do they?

I suppose it wouldn't hurt, although you better have specifics about your play to catch the athletic department's eye.

no, dont e-mail them. it shows them you have a lack of time, which isnt good. send it about 2 months before you meet him/her or when it may come in handy!
