You are a good friend. Ask her if she is finding out the sex of the baby, and if she wants the shower before or after the baby comes. Sometimes people like to wait till after so that a) they know the sex and b) they can show off the baby to all the people who would like to see the baby. If she wants it before, I would say you should get going on it pretty quickly--you don't want to cut it too close in case the baby is early. You should probably schedule it for the middle of February. If your mom will help you and let you host, great. If not, maybe you can ask another friend to co-hostess.

She cant really plan her own, well she could but its not traditional,. because she is so young its better for an adult to plan it, and aunt or the mom from the fathers side. Its about 4-6 weeks before the due date. Id say 6 is good because you never know if the baby is coming too early, and with a mother that young anything can happen. Let the adults plan the shower, theres more too it that getting presents, but if your friend is having one, she should register somewhere. Babies R Us, Target. etc.

Planning a baby shower is like planning a party, you invite friends, family including inlaws and grandparents, aunts and uncles... bla bla bla, then you have a lunch of sorts and they bring presents for the baby. Proper etiquette is to host a baby shower at the mom of the mother-to-be's home and have it on a sunday afternoon after church. You have it after the mother is passed 7mos pregnant. best of luck, you guys are gonna need it.
