You give the hospital permission to apply for the child's birth certificate and SS card. The SS card should be in your mailbox in 2-3 weeks and you pick up the birth certificate at the county courthouse in 4 weeks.

between 2 - 4 weeks is average.

My 2nd son was born 11/17/06 and we just got his SS card 1/19/07!!

And I still haven't went to pick up a birth cert! But with my oldest, his birth cert was ready to be picked up when he was about 1 1/2 weeks old.

If you NEED your baby's SS# for some reason and don't need the actual physical card, you can go to your local SS office and get an "official" paper that will tell you his SS# We had to do this to get our taxes filled out and to put him on our insurence. Make sure you take your ID and baby's ID (a birth cert doesn't count as ID you need a shot record from the doc-even if he hasn't had any! LOL)

You'll probably get the forms in the hospital, I had to go to the Dept of Records to get the birth certificate but the SS card arrived in the mail before the baby was one month old. You usually get a "record of birth" which is not an official birth certificate but is good enough for some things (like Medical Assistance or Food Stamps) until you get the actual birth certificate.

Depends on the state and the hospital. But generally both within 4-6 weeks. But you will have to pick up the Birth certificate.

I also filled out the forms at the hospital. I got the birth certificate in about one week, and the SS card in about 3-4 weeks.

SS card came about 5 weeks after birth. Birth certificate you have to recieve from the state, they send you home from the hospital with the request form. We got a decorative (though not official) birth certificate at the hospital.

You can get health insurance and life insurance before you recieve SSN and then call them with the number after it comes.

i might look right into a doula that may be useful you on the wellness center. Doula's understand many organic concepts for coping with soreness and conserving you on course with your start plan. regrettably using fact of your age, do no longer assume the wellness center to take you or your concepts heavily. do no longer lay down the full time, they'll inform you have too, or could, you do no longer could! additionally do no longer provide start laying down, attempt a squat place or on all fours. Gravity helps in those positions, giving start laying down is the toughest way, no help from gravity and your pelvis isn't as open because it must be. next, do no longer enable your self to be monitered consistently, they could examine the little ones coronary heart beat as quickly as an hour for 5 min or much less, thats all they choose. consistent monitering ends up in un needed intervention. are not getting pitocin! your toddler will come out while waiting. decrease your cervical exams, one preliminary, and then one after some hrs in the event that they are pushy, yet not greater! Its so they could inform you to push at 10cm, tell them you will push while your physique tells you! and that's the final vast one, push while your physique says push, no longer while an impatient OB is obtainable in and tells you too, you won't be waiting. in case you choose for a able, healthful organic start, get a DOULA! it relatively is going to definately help using fact of your age. digital mail me in case you have any questions or choose help on looking one, that's elementary btw and not costly, a doula might artwork with you, and it will make all the version. stable good fortune. undergo in innovations do no longer enable the hard artwork and transport nurses scare you.
