You are never too old, The felony may not do anything for you unless you have done time for it. No harm in trying.

Rob, felony or not, education will only improve your chances of getting better pay. And don't let your age get in the way of holding you back or your past. I was not a saint myself and didn't go back to college for almost 24 years. Yep that is your entire lifetime plus some that I didn't return back to school. Sure it took abit to get use too. But you haven't been out of high school that long and once you return believe me you will meet alot of people that are more than willing to help you out if you have any questions. Now I don't know what your interested in or want to major in, but here is an idea, how about law. I didn't say law enforcement, but the law. What better way for you to not only educate yourself but possibly help others that are in the same boat and want to return back to school. You not only help yourself but you help others as well. And believe me, that looks great on a resume of you trying to show an employer that you are trying to change your life for the better. Another thing, keep a notebook of classes, clubs and community work in a folder. So it will be a resume in the making. Some employers like to see what classes you have taken and have some knowledge about. Your on the right path Rob, so don't let anything or anyone stop you from a college education, no matter how old you are. Smile

It's hard nowdays to get a good job with a felony background, but not impossible. The first thing you should do is go to your PO or DOC, and get a list of employers who do hire ex-cons, or who have hired ex-cons. Apply at those places first just to get yourself going. Second; if you go apply at a place where you WANT to work, where it ask about felony, check yes, but add that you wish to talk about that at the interview. That way they might not be too quick to cast the ap aside. Third; Be friendly, and BE HONEST!
You must be honest about the past and sincere about your future.
As far as college goes, you're most likely going to have to go the Community College route. (Not bad really). Or a Tech or trade institute. (Not bad really). Your nearest work source program will definately help you with that.
Look, you have more options than you realize. Go find them, they are their just for people like yourself.

I first commenced a college degree at the age of 32, successfully completed 4 years later. Lots of people are older than this at colege.

You're never too old!

I started a year after, I felt old. But, I didn't feel so bad sitting next to my fellow student who was in her 50's. :P

There are people there a lot older than you, go for it.

-.-'
