You will need something that has a double hook at the top to straddle the piece that it attaches to. Personally, I would get about 6 inches of a semi-rigid stainless steel wire and bend it in half. Then, with a pair of needle nose pliers, bend the two ends over to create the hooks. If you do this neatly, it should look good and straight when hanging.

I would use a coin, taped on the backside, to finish it off with. You will need to experiment with the weight of the coin, 5 cent, dime, etc... and when you find one that keeps the time fairly well, adjust the height of the coin on the wire. lowering the coin will slow the clock and raising it will speed it up, I think that is right.

A pair of metal washer with a very short bolt and nut could also work in stead of coins. Straddle the wire ad tighten the nut to secure on the stainless steel arm.. Rub a little stain on it to match the clock features.

Good luck.
