I am 8 days late for my period. I'm not entirely regular anyway, but it's been a while since I've been this late. I have been very stressed out this last month and I've gained a little weight over the last four months (about 10 pounds). My last period started December 8. I did not have unprotected sex since then. My boyfriend and I had genital contact with no penetration on December 18 which would have been two weeks before I ovulated if my cycle were normal (I have, on average, a 33-35 day cycle). He came on my stomach and I wiped it off immediately. I've taken many hpts, including one this morning, all negative. I had a doctor's urine and blood test when I was four days late. All negative. Today would have been 4 weeks and five days since the "possible conception." The blood test would have been 4 weeks and 2 days since that date. Do you think I'm just having an irregular cycle or what? I'm so confused...

One time I got so scared that I was pregnant that I actually missed my period for three months. You need to relax. I think its unlikely you got pregnant that way. You should get some birth control. It'll help with the regularity of your period and no more pregnancy scares. Abusing some street drugs and severe dieting are 2 possible reasons for a missed period and stress is a big facotor I feel, I am sometimes late when things get rough in my life. Relax honey take a bubble bath and drink some tea.

Sounds like an irregular cycle, which is common and things like stress and weight gain are likely culprits. When I was in high school I didn't have a period for 6 months and it was before I was sexually active. It's gotten better over the years, but my period has never been completely 'regular' to the day.

You're stressed as much as anything else. Stress can throw off your cycle, on it's own.

You mentioned genital contact. You should know that under some circumstances, a man's lubrication contains sperm. You also need to know that whether it's his lube or his ejaculate, if you get one drop anywhere on the mucous membranes around your vaginal entrance (that's labia major, labia minor, and anywhere from your clitoris to your introitus) those sperm can will swim, all the way up to and through (around ovulation) your cervix and your uterus and into your fallopian tubes, just trying to find that mature ova. And as soon as that now fertilized egg implants, you are pregnant.

See your doctor. HPT's can have both false negatives and false positives, but there are some visible physical changes that a doctor can see during a pelvic exam that are indicative of pregnancy.

In the future, USE A CONDOM. Correctly used, condoms significantly reduce the risk of pregnancy, in addition to blocking much but not all of the possibilities of STD's. But you also need to know that there is no method of contraception, alone or in combination with any other method or methods of contraception, that is 100% effective. Just say no simply doesn't take into account the possibility of forced or coerced sexual activity.

I think you just have an irregular cycle. That can happen to women who are under stress. But don't worry your period will come eventually if all those test came out negative. Just try to relax and don't worry about it. It'll come soon.

its probably all that stress...stress (as well as weight gain/loss, major changes in eating habits) can mess up your cycle causing you to be irregular....try relaxing...
