What causes this?
I live with my boyfried and I really love him but as soon as he leaves our apartment he goes nuts. When we're home he's so nice but as soon as we leave the house he worries that I'm going to do something stupid, or his car will get stolen or a million other things. It's usually while he's driving. He says I don't understand because I'm not smart enough (he doesn't really SAY that but, ya, and it's only because he's mad). He gets really mad and frustrated and we end up fighting. What could be the cause of this? Is it a fear or something(leaving the house)?

He says he's not like this when he goes to work which is when I'm not there.

Wow. I am sorry he does that. If I were you, I would sit him down and talk. At home in a 'safe' environment when neither of you are upset. Ask him to explain his feelings. Maybe you make him nervous. Maybe he feels like he isn't doing something good enough for you. There are many things. It could be a mental condition that requires medicine. Or it could be something simple that talking and counseling could fix. But by all means. Talk. and Talk soon. Do not consider taking your relationship one step further until this issue is faced, and resolved. Good luck hun!

You should find a new boyfriend. If he is not like this at work then it is specifically directed at you. Or something about your personality bothers him when you're in public together. He has a lot of deep-seated issues that he should get counseling about. Let go and move on or encourage him to get some help.
