in cockney a chavey means kids so if i was to say my chavey is at school it would mean my kids have gone to school ,,,,,,,,,a chav on the other hand means a person from a poor or middle class back ground who where`s designer clothes and lots of big gold jewellery,,,,,it doesnt mean pikey or trailer trash as some people are stating

i have always been under the impression that it originally stood for council house average, but has probably changed rapidly over the past years due to the bad press that they are given.. it refers to people who are trying to not follow steroetypes by dressing differently, but as there are so many 'chavs' nowadays, it has become a stereotype. hoodies and joggerbottoms prevail as clothing preferences.

they are section of the community who wear a broadspectrum of clothing all trying to look individual but all looking the same from the burberry cap to the nike trainers , timberland boots what ever sayings they come up with it happens every generation , mods rockers goths punks modern culture thats all
