In a word, yes. Interestingly, it was political correctness (allowing a hyphenated society) that led to the fall of the Roman Empire. Now Americans are no longer American. They are African-American, Hispanic-American, etc. What's next? I'm waiting on the division between hair color. That would make me a Brunette-American. After all, I have nothing in common with those Blond-Americans. So, now I have my own special interest group and I don't have to interact with anyone who is different than myself. Isn't that special? And, oh yeah, I deserve special rights because my great-great-great grandparents were victims of discrimination and forced to assimilate into American culture.
Americans should eat, drink, sleep, work, play, live and pray TOGETHER for America as a whole, not spend time, effort and revenue accommodating the few who choose to live here but want to keep what they left behind. Teddy Roosevelt said it best. "There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all."

Ya think?! It would almost be better to have a different system of doing things. Apparently we can't think for ourselves or our children. We can't make decisions or say anything that might offend someone else. When I heard that the people who used to be considered the "hungry" in America are now the "food challenged" or whatever it was. That is insane. Whenever someone does something that offends someone we have to "apologize" or "retract" that statement. Judges on American Idol are harsh?? Hello, did someone not watch the other seasons of "Idol"?? I appreciate the bold, brash honesty. And yes, it is honest to laugh t someone behind their back. Would they rather have had them sit there stone faced saying, sorry, you aren't good enough...yeah right!! A lot of us would have said the same things that they said, and we would have laughed right after they walked out of the door too. Just no one would have known it. Oh please. I am an agnostic (didn't used to have to give it a name) but Christmas is still christmas and my kids get presents. Do not call it "The Holiday". It has a CHRISTMAS tree, not a holiday tree. My thoughts...they need to get over it, get a backbone, and MOVE ON!

It is. Politically correct speech is a form of thought control. Read 1984 by George Orwell.
Making the masses sensitive beyond reason or the ability to maintain subversive or dissenting thought is an ancient practice. Ever argue semantics?

There's actually a backlash (of which I am a part of) in which people entirely reject political correctness. Not that a little bit of sensitivity to others is a bad thing, but we have taken it WAY too far. We need a happy medium (best kind to perform seances with.... sorry, bad pun).

Yes. The rest of the world things American men are ________ (kittens). All races and peoples have done evil and screwd up a time or two. A little forgiveness, give a pass once and a while, forget about it.

In some peoples' eyes, probably. However, too many people have been callous and insensitive with racial and other stereotypes for too many years. You don't know how much something like that can hurt someone. I'm sure it doesn't bother some people, but I'm sure it does bother others.
