Intel's P4 chip runs a lot faster than 400 MHz, That is most likely the FSB (front side buss) speed. Used for the RAM and other direct CPU to Motherbaord resources.
The P4 chip started at speeds around 1.8 GHz and are currently approaching 4GHz. If this is in a running system, you can find out the speed of the processor by using the windows control pannel and having a look at the system information. This will give you the processor brand, speed and amount of RAM, among other things. If you are thinking of getting more RAM, match the speed of what you have, or you may find compatibility problems.

LOL the minimum clock speed of pentium 4s start at 1.3 Ghz and so i guess that must be front side bus u are talking about,u can't put a processor with fsb of 800Mhz in a motherboard that is made just for processors with front side bus of 400 Mhz.(told u check the specs)

There's no such thing as a 400mhz Pentium 4. That's the bus speed. The CPUs started at 1.3ghz.
