Mom used to make them for us four kids out of brown paper bags....THEY WERE THE BEST!!!!, you could write on them, or design them or whatever, and they protected the book great too.

It's almost impossible to make a bookcover. You can teach them zone or man-to-man defenses, but the cover as to really want it! Also, it's important not to judge a book by its bookcover, or relatedly, to judge a bookcover by its book. Take a pair of scissors (not too sharp and don't run with them). Cut out a shape slightly large than the perimeter of the (probably coloring) book you wish to cover. Then fold the edges under the outcover cover of the book and presto! You've got a bookcover!

um.. the make book socks now..

which is basically a stretchy book cover made out of fabric.

no one uses paper bags anymore.. and they're really cheap, you can buy it at target or walmart for under a $1 and you can reuse them..
they also come in all sorts of colors and patterns!!

Take some paper grocery bags, then cut them to a proper shape (make sure they fit over the book while it's shut, not open), and then tape the paper bags onto themselves so they keep their shape. I would advise against actually taping anything directly to the book.
