7 is probably too young but they do have those special phones for kids that can only dial a few numbers. It's good for emergencies but I don't see how parents can expect the kid to not lose the thing. Kids come home missing articles of clothing. Unless you glue it to their skin they are probably going to lose it at some point. I guess if you are rich then you don't care.

THANK YOU! I didn't get my own phone until i was 15 years old, but my 8 yr old cousin is getting one! It's like, Who are they gonna call!!?? A 7 year old's world consists of Family, school, a few friends, and maybe a sport. None of that requires a cell phone. I know i sound like an old man, but kids are growing up way too fast now. I'm 17, and even if you look at what shows they watch, and what toys they play with, and what clothes they wear, it's very different than when i grew up. But that's our future...lol

I dont get why little kids have cells.. 7 yr olds shouldn't be alone so its not like they are gonna have an emergency and need to call home... LOL yeah mom my meeting is running late? LMAO I dunno by the time I have kids and they get to be 7 i might change my mind... my 13 yr old brother in law has one and I'm thinking- WHY??? hes 13!!!

I think it is stupid if you ask me. My 7 year old wants a cell phone I told him he can have a cell phone when he is old enough to pay the bill. Kids need to learn responsibility. When I was younger if we wanted something expensive we could live with out we had to work for it be chores or babysitting.

Unless its one of the new Disney phones. Then they cant run the bill, and it has a GPS so mom or dad can find where they are. And if they lose the phone, GPS comes in handy once again.

Because they don't have a brain, and you do! I'm actually proud and I don't even know you.

Most parents want to be their kids friend, not the parent because they don't want their kids to not like them. Parenting is not about your children liking you, its about doing what is right

I know my daughter gave my 8 year old grandson one for Christmas. I gave him an old one to use as an address book and an alarm to see if he would be responsible. he lost it now he lost the one he just got for Christmas. Parents give their children too much that they don't need which is why they don't appreciate things
