Because if we leave now it will definitely bring that mess over here, and instead of a few people a day dying over there, we could lose hundreds a day here. We would have a terrorist attack on every corner in the US and how would that be with all the gun control laws we have in effect. It would be a catastrophe, we would be helpless against it and the tides would be turned, instead of about 3000 dead soldier and 100,000 dead Iraqi's it would be 100,000 dead Americans and maybe 3000 dead terrorists. So think about what is going on more than what the TV says, and maybe it'll help you decide on the next election. Vote for the people keeping the mess out of our country or vote for the people who are so short sighted and desirous to be elected they give you what you want and end the war over there and bring it here. Remember 9/11 was enacted on Bush's watch, but it was planned on Clinton's. Clinton had eight opportunities to kill Osama bin Laden and did nothing to Saddam Hussein during his time in office. Since then no more terror attacks on US soil. I say keep killing them bastards. Looking at my gas pump it obviously isn't for the oil.

Well it's a very good thing none of you cowards were alive and able to voice an opinion when we were in World War Two - else right now we'd all be doing the goosestep, speaking German and saluting the offspring of Adolph Hitler!
Yes - 3,000-plus dead is a lot. But let's look at this from a historical context. We have now been in Iraq since March 19, 2003 - the day that the President addressed the nation and said we'd begun the campaign to eliminate Saddam Hussein, to eliminate the WMDs, and to rid the Middle East of another courtyard where terrorists trained and received comfort and aid. In just 3 months it will be 4 years.
— Did you know that the United States lost 1843 personnel in Pearl Harbor - a ONE DAY event?
— Did you know that the United States lost 2164 servicemen in the landing on Tulagi, the first step in an invasion of Guadalcanal and the Solomon Islands?
— Did you know that the United States lost 2027 more in retaking the remaining Solomon Islands, not counting Tulagi, Savo Island, the Eastern Solomons, the Santa Cruz Islands, Cape Esperance, Tassafaronga or Guadalcanal?
— Did you know that the United States lost 2853 in all those battles I mentioned above? So in the Solomon Islands alone there were over 7,000 lost in the course of a month?
— Did you know that the United States lost 4508 servicemen alone in the Battle for the Marianas Islands - a one-month battle?
— Did you know that the United States lost 4158 servicemen in MacArthur's famous Return to the Phillipines invasion - an almost 2½ month battle?
— Did you know that the United States lost 5841 servicemen in the Invasion of Iwo Jima?
— Did you know that the United States lost 6706 servicemen in the Invasion of Okinawa?
And are you ready for this statistic?
— Did you know that the United States lost, in the Pacific Theatre of Operations alone, 34,607 Navy servicemen from Pearl Harbor until the final battles in the Phillipines and Okinawa in late June of 1945?
— Did you know that the United States lost 17,376 Marines their lives during the exact same time period, for a combined total of almost 52,000 men killed between December 7, 1941 and September 4, 1945 when the final troops of the Japanese Empire surrendered on Wake Island?
And guess what else? Not a single voice was raised - by Democrat nor Republican - by Hollyweird nor the news media - nor did any large group of American citizens take to the streets to protest. Why? Because our grandparents and great-grandparents had eyes and could see the evil before them - Adolph Hitler, Benito Mussolini and Emperor Hirohito of Japan.
Yet here we are today protesting and fighting amongst ourselves over is this war just or right. No war is a good war - God wants us to live in peace! But when religious fanatics are hell bent on killing us, believing that any personal sacrifice they make will get them 72 virgins and a spot in Heaven - you don't just sit back and wait for the killings to happen!
Yes - 3,000 service men and women have died defending our great nation and our way of life. But tell me this - HOW MANY PEOPLE DIED ON 9/11 FOR JUST BEING AMERICANS? FOR JUST BEING IN THE WORLD TRADE CENTER? FOR BEING IN THE PENTAGON? FOR PREVENTING MORE LIVES FROM BEING TAKEN IN A FIELD IN PENNSYLVANIA?
Now you look at that number of dead - and try to tell me you don't feel something? 3½ years of people dying - versus - nearly the same many in less than 3 hours!

We made certain commitments to the legally elected government of Iraq. We need to fulfill those commitments so we can leave honorably.
Some pathetic whiners have a lot to say about the current president but at least he didn't let the terrorists into this country to later kill thousands of people. I notice that since Bush took office things have steadily got better after the economic disaster Clinton left us with. We were in recession when Clinton left office yet you clowns whine about where we are now?

There is just so much instability there right now, if we leave right away it would allow all the wrong people (radical clerics, outside terrorist groups, former Saddam loyalists, etc) to have a chance to gain control. And it would make us look even worse than we already do. Now as for why we went there in the first place...

America needs oil, Iraq has it. We overthrew their corrupt government so we could replace it with OUR corrupt government. Now we need to institute a puppet government that we can control the supply of the scarce materials so we Americans can have gas for our Hummers and Trucks and throw some more wars later on against Iran and eventually China.

Wait until you're 18, you've voted, and you have knowledge in such matters before bashing the president and asking such stupid questions. We have enough morons on here that clog up the Answers page with mindless drivel.
