How about giving "Elvira" (aka Cassandra Peterson) a standing ovation for all that She has done over the years. She has been an advocate for "Gay Rights" since before there was even an organized "Gay Rights" movement. Cassandra has spent countless hours doing performances, personal appearances, fund (and awareness) raisers and guest spots on behalf of 'AIDS' research and the welfare and status of members of the Gay community. Have a look at one of the 'Elvira' websites and see what a wonderful ambassador She has been over the past 25 or more years. Some of Us 'straight' people actually do Our bit for the GLBT Rights Movement, not because it is fashionable to do so, but rather because We really do care about others.
I am a member of 'San Fransisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride' because I chose to be a supporter. Cassandra Peterson has been at the fore front of the movement since the early 1980's. Don't You think that it is about time someone thanked Her for Her efforts?
(Love Your work Sweetheart!)

Well...before is tragic death from AIDS in 1992, it was definately Pedro Zamora, one of the original cast members of MTV's Real World, though otherwise, I must say, I am a big fan of Oscar Wilde, and though they are not GLBT, i respect Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for vowing not to marry until everyone can marry, no matter their partner.

Gay- Freddie Murcury, from Queen, he was brilliant
Lesbian- Ellen DeGenerous, no explanation needed, but adorable and hilarious,
Bi-Sexual- Tallulah Bankhead, actress and general wild child
Transgendered- Queen Elizabeth II, lol, just kidding lol seriously though I would say Charles Busch, gorgeous and funny and just all-round brilliant.
I don't know if Eddie Izzard is considered transgendered but love him too.

Louis Sullivan. He fought hard to get gay transsexuals allowed to get hormones and surgery for transitioning back in a time when you were only thought to be transsexual if you were gay pre-transition. He also provided immense support for FtM's when the community was just getting started.
Not very famous outside the community, but a driving force nonetheless. Rest in peace, Louis.

I think I admire Elizabeth Taylor who stood up after her friend Rock Hudson's death and did so much for AIDS.

My friend Russ who is 65, lives with his partner, has never said to anyone he is gay and never hidden it either. He lives his life and loves his friends, gay, straight or questioning in the open but not on stage.

Christina Aguilera has done alot of wonderful things for the gay and lesbian community, she has done a video about it "BEAUTIFUL" that's about understanding the GAY lifestyle, also she has one lots of ralleys, and done the Advocate( a gay magazine) her messages say its ok to be who aim, not matter who is there, I look up to her to it. she still fights for gay rights to this day!
