I second the recommendation to take a look at the book "Writer's Market" for listings on a variety of publishers. Keep in mind you may be rejected by at LEAST a few of them before you are on the road to being published. Agents are really key for getting your foot in the door. They can help move your manuscript past the slush pile and actually get it read. Plus, they negotiate your contract for you (which I wouldn't recommend doing on your own, unless you are a lawyer!)

Another resource that is immensely helpful is Preditors and Editors. It has ratings for agents, publishers, contests, and more to help prevent writers from being scammed. Check it out:

Good luck!

It's probably true, to get to the bigger publishers you need a literary agent, BUT some places do accept unsolicited manuscripts. You can check it out in Writer's Market or just go to the website for the publisher to see what their requirements are for submissions.

Someone I've been in touch with recently sold a romance novel - no agent involved. Of course, a BIG RED FLAG if anyone wants money from you to get the book out unless you're looking for a vanity printer.

I don't know of any specific companies - you can always do a search of children's books, especially the type you're working on, to find out names of publishers. Good luck! GO FOR IT!

You need an agent before you can get to a publishing company, if you send a manuscript directly to a publishing company it's going to end up in the recycling bin. Go to your local library and ask them if they have a guide to literary agents, if not try your local bookstore.

Miese is sweet. no longer everybody has the braveness to stand the publishing industry whether their literature is extremely cautioned for public intake. considering you have already got your components, the subsequent component you will possibly be able to come to a determination on doing is to locate a writer who would be your shop, writer, editor and distributor on the comparable time - that's evidently no longer that common to locate. as quickly as I meet an author with an outstanding e book concept, one which’s unquestionably the remarkable individual to jot down that e book, staggering away I’ll generally inspire her or him to self-post. that's because of the fact i comprehend that an author is carefully invested in what they ought to declare. Your writer can grant help to ensure the form in case you like. And it is your e book - no person ought to tell you what to do. good success! :)
