I have a black tie event to go to and the dress i was planning to wear would look good with strappy shoes. the thing is, i was wanting to wear nylons. is it ok to wear nylons with those type of shoes of would i be making a fashion no no?

sure, just be sure to get the "sheer toe" or "sandal toe"
NOT "reinforced toe" kind, cuz that's tacky.

Bare legs seem to be acceptable now, but I still prefer nylons. Make sure that they don't have a reinforced toe or heel. Better buy two pair, because if you snag or run them before a special occasion, that wouldn't be fun at all. Have a great time.

It's a big no, especially if the shoes are open toed or sling backs.

Sure you can. Nylons are always better than bare legs. It might look better if your shoes have closed toes though.
