At work, I have a boom box, where I can listen to CDs, and it has a radio. However, I try to listen to the radio, and I only get a couple stations in. I am quite frustrated. Especially now that baseball season is only a couple months away. I am a huge Cincinnati Reds fan, but 700 AM won't come in at work, meaning I'll have to miss games.

My question is, is it possible (and what would I have to do) to get a personal satellite radio with a headphone jack that would recieve Reds games, and maybe atleast a few decent music stations? And would I have to worry about reception? How much would it cost me? And do I have to sign up for a monthly fee?

I've never owned a satellite radio, and I know very little about them. But I was wondering if I should check into getting one of them. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.

only xm has baseball.

there are portable players, like the pioneer inno where you can record content as well. reception indoors may or may not be an issue, it just depends on your location. it also may depend if you had the unit "docked" or portable at the time b/c of the different antenna. it would help if you had a south facing window.

you have to do a monthly fee (no contract, cancel anytime) for about $13 a month. you can listen to xm online with your subscription as well. however, major league baseball has an exclusive online contract so you would not be able to listen to games online via xm. you'd have to do that through mlb at a price.

xm has 170 channels, so you'd have more than a few music channels. you'd have tons. plus any other genre you can think of: comedy, old time radio, talk, tv feeds, etc.

you can do a free trial online to see if you like it, just go to www.xmradio.com and sign up. be aware that not all channels are available online, so that's not everything you'll get. but it gives you an idea of the music selection.

In the world of satellite radio there are two companies, XM and Sirius. You would have to check the schedules of the two (I know sirius has a website, www.sirius.com) to know exactly what they play and when they play it. As for the reception satellite works with line of site. There are portable units available from both companies but they might now work well in a building unless you sit right next to a window. You would have to pay a monthly fee of around $13.00 for either company. I hope this helps!

XM or Sirius. Subscription based satelite radio. They both have portable players that can store and play channels. Its about 15 bucks a month but you can generally get reception anywhere. The tiny ipod like players can run from $50-400

They both have websites so you can see the lineup.

You may hit a snag with the reception; but I know Sirius you can listen online as well.

However, I believe XM has the MLB contract.

Look to pay about $60 in hardware and ~$10/month.
