Why is that? if a black person ran for president, he/she would get assassinated by a racist? A example is Dr. Martin Luther King.

Republicans are racists, and will do anything to win.
Look at the racist TV ads they ran in the last election.

Lincoln, Ford, and Reagan all had assassination attempts. Were their assailants racists? You don't have to be a racist to pull a trigger. MLK was shot because he was changing a nation to a way some folks didn't agree with. That was 40+ years ago; the nation is different now.

I do not think that is true. Obama is running for president and although I do not see an assassination in the future, I am seeing a lot of uncalled for remarks about him being a terrorist supporter and speculation that he is hiding his religious roots just because of the sound of his name and his color. Sure, there will be many racist people who do not vote for him based on his skin color, but to say he would be a target for assassination may be taking it a bit too far.

Dr. King didn;t run for President. Shirley Chisholm ran for president in the '70s and she was not assassinated.
Also, racists are ignorant.

MLK was not a president so you can't use him as an example. 4 presidents were assasinated and 12 were attempted on other presidents.. It's not a race issue. It's a hate issue. Hate is an equal opportunist.

While there is that risk, it's far from a certainty. Dr. King did not have Secret Service protection. Presidential candidates do. There are those who are so consumed by hate that they would certainly try.
