I love seeing people have so much hope and it all come crashing down after 30 seconds of singing, I don't pay attention to it after it goes to hollywood.

It's just the first week of basic eliminations. The network hasn't really shown the public the best talents. Once they're through catching the public's attention by showing all the funny, odd, weird, unusual applicants, then they'll show the real purpose of the show. By then, we're all hooked for the run.
I tend to think that some of the behind the scenes takes are put on. I may be mistaken, though. I don't know of any contestant who got totally mistreated so I don't have first-hand knowledge of what goes on. If these aren't rigged, then yes, it is absolutely mean. However, the public shows that it condones such behavior by watching the show. The meaner it gets, the higher the ratings, it seems. The public has the power to stop the meanness. What'll it be? Only the ratings can tell. . . .

They do tend to cross the line with their comments to many contestants. However, I did watch something interesting earlier, a man claimed that the judges' remarks aren't any worse this year than they have been in past years.
He claimed at the end of the season, viewers get wrapped up in the great singing and the excitement of the winner. They forget the beginning of the season when it's a huge freak show and most people suck. So, when the next season begins, we're thrown into the horrible singers and worse comments when we've gotten used to great singers and great comments.

I watched the first few nights of American Idol this week and I refuse to watch it. I am so mad that the girl that did the cowardly lion voice didn't make it. She had a really unique voice and talent and I think they could have worked with her. They are just looking for barbie dolls and not even taking people with real talent. They were saying Minneapolis was a bad place to live because the lack of talent but they should have taken their blinders off cause they missed out on a lot of good talent.

Well it's funnier this season b.c all the bad singers But not alot of great ppl on here this season, so it's kinda weird, but I get a good laugh at it! But the judges are just getting annoyed w/ all the bad singers. But im going to have to say this isn't the greatest year. I only watch the auditions, it's boring after they go to Hollywood. Don't u think?

I think the show is getting old. I tried watching the first two episodes, but it just doesn't keep my attention like it used to. It seems like they are trying too hard this season to be extra cruel and it's crossing some boundaries (especially the bush baby comment)

It's hard to say at this point. They really haven't shown a lot of very good people yet. I'm hoping for better when they start showing Hollywood week. Simon and the gang haven't let me down yet, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

They keep saying "It's a singing competition!" and then make snap judgements on people based on the way they look. If it were really fair to everyone, the auditions would be audio only, sight unseen.

worse especially Seattle but I feel bad that people think they sing and embarrass themselves and others just want to be on TV. The judges should be a little nicer too.
