Does 'fate' control everything in life OR do our everyday actions & decisions decide who we become in life. Is it possible that too many Wrong Decisions can place you on a dead end road. Why.. despite our better insticts, are we sometimes our OWN worst ENEMY!

'm taking an Existentialism course and would like to get other people's opinions on this subject...

We exist to live and be loved. Nothing else matters. I love you.

We exist to experience life, unfortunately, the world we live in has been ravaged by greed(money), narcissism, and countless other things that get in the way of enjoying our lives to the fullest extent. Our everyday actions are meaningful, and there is a scheme behind this mystery of an experience that we call life. As for right and wrong, that point of view is only held by the perciever of their own existance, what is right for some would be considered wrong by others. You should follow your instincts to the best of your ability, we, humans, as a species, have lost touch with the natural wold. We live in troubled times, and I can not blame you for the way you feel like you do. But you have the power to change these things, "I can do anything I want, and so can You." But at least hear this, do not strive for success, or wealth, these are some of the things that has corrupted humanity in the first place. Love, is an important part to life, It is a beautiful emotion, and to be blessed with it is truly an honor. WISDOM: there is a great difference between knowledge and wisdom, and if you know this difference, the strive for wisdom will help you on your way. As for religion, you can believe what you like, but there will never be proof "you could spend your whole life weighing the pros and cons, and in the end, there would still be no proof, so why debate it? its absurd" BUT it is in what we don't know that makes life so amazing. It is the never ending search for God, that throws so many off track. But do believe this, everything happens for a reason....

I hope this provided some insight....

Why we exist, as I am sure you will find out in your Existentialism course, is a completely moot point. Existence precedes essence - it doesn't matter why we're here, we're just here. There are better things to worry about.

Whether fate exists or not is also a meaningless query, for what does it matter? Do we not believe as we make the choices that we make that we are making them of our own free will? And if fate exists, how could we possibly know that what we are doing is not our own decision?

When you pour yourself a bowl of cereal in the morning, stop and ask yourself, is this fate? Or did I myself decide to have these Corn Flakes? Chances are you won't really worry about whether or not you are fated to have cereal in the morning, you'll just have it. (If you don't like Corn Flakes, I apologize - it's just an example.) If you believe that you are fated to have that cereal, test it; you will find it's actually pretty easy not to have to pour it in the bowl. Now question becomes: Was I fated to not have cereal this morning? Or did I myself choose to put the box back in the pantry and go for donuts? You see how this could go on indefinitely.

If fate drives us, then surely it drives us entirely, and we have absolutely no free will; everything we think we thought to do on our own is actually predetermined, and everything that happened to us is not our own fault. Conversely, if there is no fate, then everything we do a completely subjective decision, and everything that happens to us is to some degree our own fault, as we are entirely responsible for the consequences of our own actions. Either way, we still deal with our own human emotions and we worry about what will come in the immediate future and we suffer sadness and we laugh at things that we didn't expect and we live out our lives until we die. And, either way, it really doesn't matter if it's fate or if it's us, because it doesn't change anything.

Too many wrong decisions can certainly land you in trouble -- you'll find that the more things affect you, the more power you have to modify your situation. And you'll realize that fate or no fate, it will take action on your part to right yourself. So figure out what the right decisions are and get to it.

If we are our own worst enemy, it is because our better instincts are not really "better" after all. Instincts, scientifically speaking, are patterns programmed into our DNA that should theoretically help us survive in the wild. I've heard that when in a group setting, every seven minutes or so everyone will subconsciously inhale at the same time, creating a small pause in the conversation -- enough of a pause to listen and see if any predators are coming. This is a leftover instinct from our hunter/gatherer days. If you are your own worst enemy, it's because you haven't figured out how best to relate to society...or else you are chemically depressed, in which case you should seek professional help. Either way, it's a problem of the brain that, believe it or not, can be solved by YOU.

As for what we should strive for...again, that's a subjective answer. What of those options makes you (YOU, and not necessarily everyone else) happiest? Me, I think if you shoot for Love and Wisdom, then the rest will follow. But it's all up to you, the individual. If you're fated to find them, then you might as well get started! If you're an autonomous being, then you should definitely get started, because they certainly won't just come to you.

We should strive for: Personal Growth and Peace within ourselves and then the world.

Fate controls some things, but no fate can stop determination of a human spirit.

There's no such things as too many wrong decisions, I think, there are NO wrong decisions, because every decision ultimately leads you towards where you're suppose to be, so no matter how low your life seems, there's ALWAYS light at the end of the tunnel.

We are our own enemy sometimes, because of outside factors, like wrong information and our own poor judgement or easy way out. Remember, right decisions are not always easy ones.

Because human beings have been blessed with knowledge. While we enjoy many benefits of this, we are also cursed with knowing that some day we will die. Whatever time we have on earth, has to have some meaning that we have to achieve. A dog can stand blissfully watching the car that is about to run it over because it has no concept of what is about to happen and no concern if it had a meaningful existence. We our own worst enemies because we over analyze things.....what IF I don't go to college, what IF I don't get that job I want, what IF people don't like me, what IF I get a serious disease/illness. Many times our thoughts and actions are dictated by how others will perceive us. It is important to some people to be thought of as successful for life to be complete. Instinct is often traded for desire to belong. If you make decisions that, in your heart, make you happy instead of pleasing others, I really don't think you can ever be on a dead end road.

well....in life we shud strive for wisdom more that anythin else...becoz if we r wise, then onli shall we realize the fact that we should love each other and thats wat every religon teaches...to spread the message of love and compassion..n wen we r wise...we know that being successful in ur life doesn't mean that we hv a sound professional life, being successful wuld b if we leave this world a better place than what it was earlier...and wealth is something we need to survive...but it shud not become greed..because greed for money is the root cause of all evil...and this is what every religon teaches...fate is something wich definitely controls our life..coz i believe that everything happens for a reason n for the good.God always knows what is best for us...so even if we don't get it at the present moment...we will surely get something bigger n better in future...and wrong decisions don't place u on a dead end road so long as u hv hope alive and wisdom to know u r wrong and ammend ur mistake...besides we must learn from our mistakes....n we r not our own worst enimies ..in fact we r not at all our enimies if we love ourselves...coz before loving anyone else...we must learn to love ourselves!!

We exist because billions of years ago some chemicals and minerals started existing together-carbon-hydrogen-oxygen- and somehow this sparked the evolutionary process all the way from amoebas to humans- if we are the last chain of the evolutionary process.

You should strive for what ever makes you happy.

Every decision everyone makes effects us all.

No decisions are ever wrong-they just have different outcomes-right and wrong are relative to the person you are.

We exist to live, to love, and to help others. People can make a million wrong decisions and one good one that will keep them away from that dead end road.

Think of fate as a journey. We live from day to day and things happen. We don't always travel the highway but the byway. We travel we know not where, but sooner or later reach our end and then look back. It is then that we see what our fate was.

Philosophy is merely a label for 'ideas approximately issues which we could on no account understand the genuine of'. additionally, predictions of the destiny are prophesies, no longer standard philosophies. Prophets are ones who are watching for the destiny (in many situations inspired by skill of a deity), no longer philosophers.

well God created humans so that he could have communion with another intelligent being, and so that man could magnify Him. unfortunately with the fall of man, nothing that we can do can be pleasing to God, unless by His devine will it would be so.
so the truth is man should be striveing for God, but because of his pride he can not admit that that is what he needs unless the Lord puts it in his heart otherwise.
