The afore mentioned tricks may work, but why not train the dog instead of inconveniencing yourself with all the added "shackles" Try setting 3 or 4 mouse traps in the cupboard. If the doog has any sense 1 or 2 sessions should do the trick.

We put child safety locks - because our cats have a habit of trying to go in the cabinet. We also put up a child gate to keep the dog out.

Install and inexpensive kiddie lock (child preventive lock). Your supermarket or drugstore should have a section for this stuff. Pick out what works with your cabinet hardware, or can be attached inside the door.

What kind of handles do you have on your cabinets? I know you can get locking devices for them at walmart, otherwise I just used a strong hair rubberband when I wanted to keep my kids out. Good Luck.
