One in every three black males is in some phase of the correctional system. Is that a coincidence or do these people have, you know, like a racial commitment to crime? Seriously why does it seem like everyttime I turn on the news some black guy is commitmenting a crime . I mean the numbers don't lie . We're so hung up on this notion that we have some obligation to help the struggling black man, you know. Cut him some slack until he can overcome these historical injustices. It's crap. I mean, Christ, Lincoln freed the slaves, like, what? 130 years ago. How long does it take to get your act together? This is a serious question please help me answer this and free me from my negative perception of these people !! !!!

I just want to know where you got your statistic from. yes its true that many black men are in jail for crimes that they committed, but thats not to say that its okay to be condescending toward the African American community. What if I said that white men make up the majority of embezzelers even though they have been the most financially stable and capable racein American history, would that give me the right to criticize them and say that they dont deserve respect.

And on the subject of Lincoln freeing the slaves...Lincoln didnt fee the slaves. He signed the Emancipation Proclammation which didnt even go into effect until after his death and plus it didnt even clearly state the freeing of slaves because as we see later in American history African Americans didnt even gain full and equal rights until the 1960s. So let me ask you this, why did it take white America so long to get its act together on this issue, you said 130 years right? that's a hell of a long time to be close-minded, racist, and discriminatory.

Blacks in America are not looking for a helping hand. They're looking for social justice in a way that can allow them to pull themselves up on their own. Its hard to get a decent job if employers of nice companies wont hire you because you're black. Thats what its about. Dont cut us slack, just give us a seat at the table...hopefully one thats not close to the kitchen ;)

The statistics show what they want to show, not all crimes are committed by "Black" men or "Black" people in general. With every race you have "good" and "bad", but with other races the statistics don't "generalize" as they do when speaking of "Blacks". Yes the "Black" man is still struggling, but in his struggle he has not asked for anything he didn't deserve, and in most cases he got what he didn't deserve. There are so many organizations and individuals, yes "Black" who are not committing crimes, who are not in jail, who hold prominent jobs and major positions, so I would say look past your sources because we "Blacks" do not have a racial commitment to crime, again another sick perception of what unknowing individuals perceive. Oh, and the jury is still out on that Lincoln freeing the slaves thing.

President Lincoln freed the slaves on paper, Emancipation Proclamation. Our nation is still fighting the battle of prejudice to this day - though equality for minorities (all people of color, and women) has improved greatly since the civil rights laws passed by Congress in the 1960's - equality is still, in many ways, a paper tiger. Only when rights are freely given to all - from each and every person's mind & heart - will the true emancipation of all humans be a reality. I don't know if that will ever be possible but I do know it's worth the struggle. And the struggle belongs to everyone!!!

I don't have the stats for the UK but here in America whites commit most of the crimes, 70% in fact. I've seen the stat stating blacks are 8 times more likely to commit a crime, but honestly I don't believe it. I think it appears that way because blacks are targeted by Law Enforcement so we're jailed more often. That's why it appears we are more likely to commit a crime, but if L.E. targeted whites like they do us, then we'd see that whites are just as likely to commit a crime as blacks.

It isn't so much that there are more black people committing crimes... there are just as many of other races that are doing the exact same thing.. and getting caught. The problem is.. who is the most likely to end up on tv... or in the paper?! A black man between the ages of 17 and 35!!! It's all about tv ratings! How many white serial killers have you heard of vs. black? Think about it.

The facts may also revel that blacks are more likely to be arrested and imprisoned than white are for committing the same crimes. More blacks in prison could mean that blacks are given harsher sentences than white. Some judges actually admitted to this.

All of this is not to excuse anyone who commits a crime. Wrongdoing is wrongdoing. But whether you know it or not, the media likes to show blacks at their worst.

This is not a slavery issue, this is a social issue. Blacks only make up 12% of the U.S. population and trust me, all 12% are not out committing crimes.

Blacks were doing rather well, had businesses, families, and then liberals decided to buy their votes and give them a crutch. Now when grandma dies, nobody wants her old house because they will have to fix it up and they have nice government apartments with no responsibilities for upkeep, taxes, or what. The heirs don't even want to fix up the place and sell it for a profit, they might lose their welfare if anyone found out...stuff like that.

it's a cultural commitment to a certain lifestyle that apparently does not include working for a salary - only compensation packages of sports/rap stars, or some kind of street income.

there are plenty of white and other races that live the same lifestyle.

Mary didn't write that herself. Her stats are from ‘stromfront’ or ‘the order’ or something like that. Notice how she has no source.

As for the answer to this question, other people have done a good job with this

Not just black, anyone can commit a crime. Can you explain why white people are serial killers?
