An excellent question that sooner or later we all will be asking. For attacking Iraq and permitting torture he has badly damaged our international reputation. By not responding to Katrina he greatly damaged public trust in the federal government. By not funding No Child Left Behind he has damaged our already failing public school system and heavily burned individual states financially. By not responding to public outcry over our border with Mexico while cutting funding for enforcement, and at the same time negotiating an expansion of NAFTA to become the North American Union http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=14965
thereby creating a soon to be open border with Mexico, a tremendous boondoggle for his corporate friends, he has further demoralized public trust in our institutions. By plunging this nation into more debt than all his predecessors combined, he has made us extremely vulnerable to foreign debt holders like China. http://www.uuforum.org/deficit.htm
His handling of Iraq and Afghanistan borders on the criminal and has left our military exhausted and near collapse.
One should honestly ask if this administration actually means this country harm, as you are in your question.

I've got to agree with Geek - not exactly the most eloquently asked question I've seen, but I'll try to answer it anyways....
First, let me say that I do not like Bush. I think the man is an Idiot, and needs some serious psychological counseling.
However..... Bush is not trying to destroy the States. You've got to look at it from his point of view for a moment. He is trying to do what he sees as right, trying to protect his countrymen and promote what he sees as the best country in the world. This is how he sees it, I think.
Unfortunately for him, this is not how much of the rest of the world sees it. We see a man who can't even get through a simple speech without screwing it up, never mind running a country. We see a man who when attacked by Osama, said "lets ignore him and attack Iraq instead" going in there on charges that have yet to be proven true, and most people think were just an excuse anyways. We see a man who runs roughshod over anyone who disagrees with him, and who has dragged the world image of the United States down even further into the gutter ( personally I didn't think it was possible, but there you go...) We see a man who has instigated legislation which creates paranoia and distrust among fellow Americans, and makes it okay to invade each others privacy. America is supposed to be the land of the free, but in just a few years Bush has made it into the land of the terrified, because that is what kept him in power.
So is Bush trying to destroy the country? No. Would he if he stayed in power? Yes.

He isn't trying to destroy it. He is trying to break the government, to end all the social programs like social security. This has been a republican agenda since the programs were enacted. I think that you are giving him way too much credit. Isn't it funny how divided the parties have become since he took office?

He is not trying to "Distroy" it, he listens to GOD and God tells him what to do, oh wait, no he listens to his generals and they tell him what to do, wait again, I know, he fires the generals that dont agree with him and hires new ones that do! Ultimately, its not Bush, its Dick that is making all of the decisions!!

He is not! You are, by bashing him at every little opportunity and being part of the chaos that is going to get this country attacked again. Why don't you shut up first and then grow up!

Sigh... is this what passes for political discourse?

I mean, such an assertion, but no arguments supporting the assertion, let alone facts.

Oh well, it's cool to be a Bush-basher, and this person wants to be cool. Then again, it's cool for guys to wear their pants down around their 'nads, with the boxers pulled up...
