they have soundproof board at home depot or lowes, or any lumber yard. My brother did that and it worked.

Acoustic foam from www.Musicians Friend.com or www.ebay.com will do wonders. You'll have to shop around for the best price. I think ebay would be your best bet.

You could also hang heavy quilts or egg crate around your room, too. You need to basically break up the sound waves and prevent them from bouncing around your room. This will reduce vibrations. If you have a basement it would the best place for your drums. A garage will only upset your neighbors.

Get the foam mattress pads that look like egg crates and put those up on the walls and ceiling. It won't be completely soundproof but it will help.

Hang up scraps of carpet against the wall from the ceiling. You should be able to get them cheap from a carpet warehouse.

Mopst of these are good suggestions I will add that whatever you use make sure it's treated for anti-flammability. Foam or egg crates are dangerous.

Empty egg cartons stuck to the wall work too...no joke...the only problem is it takes a lot of cartons to do a room.

Add another brick wall with some gap in between.

Just get your family and neighbors some ear plugs and a lot of duct tape...that should do it, nice and cheaply!
