I mistakenly bought a new dell printer (922) for my old dell computer after my lexmark stopped working/ I forgot to mention to the online person from Dell that I had a windows ME op system. (I don't particularly want to upgrade since I have all my files and info stored on my current system and am otherwize happy with it.) Turns out it won't work and since I didn't try to connect it for three weeks, dell won't take it back. You have to request a return in less than two weeks. When I asked about a possible patch, they claim there is none. Are they correct? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

You could sell the Dell printer on Ebay. That's what I would do. Dell printers are made by Lexmark and Lexmark is pretty much the worst brand in the United States. Plus, you cannot buy cartridges for Dell printers anywhere except on Dell.com. Sell your Dell printer or give it to someone.

Then...

Buy an HP. HP printers will work on any operating system that is Windows 98 or newer. HP printers are more reliable, ink is easy to find, and prints are really good. You can ask who makes the best printer on yahoo! answers and most of the answers will be "HP".

I own the HP Photosmart C5180 and it's awesome (although it costs around $170). Genuine HP ink is cheap for my printer and the cartridges last a long time.

Upgrade to XP or trade somebody for an older printer with ME drivers.
