When Derek Jeter retires. And whoever said Red Sox have a powerful rotation, HA! Do you really think Matzusaka is going to be that big of a difference, he's never even won 20 games in japan. Schilling is like Randy now, giving up home runs and did not have quite the offense Randy had last year. Also if you consider Beckett an ace, look at his era and the long balls he gave up. New York is still the team to beat in the east, their offense is still second to none, they still have Mariano Rivera closing games, and i'd take young Wang, old Mussina, old Pettitte over Old Schilling, Mr. Home run (Beckett), and the unknown(matzusaka). Yankees also have a lot more major league ready starters in their system, so if someone goes down here comes these young studs.
And Bosox2312, did the Red Sox not pay a rediculous amount of money for Matzusaka and JD Drew? Man look at your own team before you criticize others.

The NY Yankee dynasty will only end when George Steinbrenner passes away. Ever since owning the Yanks, George has put the best team money can buy on the field. He will not stand for losing and will spend whatever it takes to be in the playoffs. Once he is gone, I think you will see a slow change in the Yankees because his heirs do not have the love of winning or of the Yankees as he does. Money and hatred of losing fuel the Yankees and their owner and they will continue to be in the post seasons until George's dying day.

When the league wises up and adopts the salary cap.
Of course a team should win it all, when they have the money to buy all the best players in the world...not just the U.S.
Just sell them the trophy, and do not even let them play in the postseason....LOL
What happened to their post season run last year????
The low budget Tigers and the mid level Cards.....
No Red Sox and No Yankees.....
Sooooooo Sad.

yankees are to cocky. Go redsox!! the red sox will have 101 wins the yankees will have a poor year falling behind toronto. Goerge Steinbrenner ruined the yankees and baseball. he is the only reason teams like tampa bay dont win. He spends a rediculous amount of money on a single player, raising the bar for the other players making it impossible for the weaker teams to build a strong lineup

This year. Boston will knock them out of first with their powerful rotation, and their beastly lineup. There is no chance for a Wild Card spot in the competitive AL because 90 wins jsut doesn't cut it, and that's the most the Yankees will get.
