There is not nearly enough characters allowed here to post my whole story, so I will shorten it alot.

First off, I'm 15 years old, 16 on Feb 11.

I have been overcome with a fear of the end of the world for a few years now, Started a while ago when I saw a story about Mayan prophecies.

Over the past year I've gotten over most of my fear of the end, most of the times I don't think it will happen soon, then other times I will hear something on the news that frightens me, and I'll end up being scared for about a week, then get over it (Really annoying, heh)

So does anyone know how to get over this fear? I just heard on the news that the weather parts of the US are receiving was predicted in the bible. Is there any truth to this?

I'm not a very religious person, I do believe in a god, but not the one popularized by the bible.

i am just going to answer this by the way that you asked the question.... so here goes.... since you don't believe in the opinions expressed in the bible, you make your own life, what i mean you do what you deem is right for you, nothing more , nothing less. your life and the way that you want to direct it is up to you. you nor i can predict when our time will come, what you do with what time you have is the most important, do the best you can do with what you have and you won't have to worry about anything else. life, if you point yourself in the right direction,
isn't all that bad, it is only what you make of it. hope that you can make it the best for you that it can be. as far as the end of the
world, i think it is if you let yourself down and don't achieve your goals and to help someone less fortunate than you.

You are at a time in your life when everything is changing and you are trapped between childhood and adulthood. Crazy fears are not uncommon at this time. AND no matter how crazy you KNOW it is, that doesn't help how you feel about it.
Whenever the world does end, all you can do is do your best to live your life to its fullest potential. Be the person you were created to be. God made you and gave you a job to do here. When we get to that ending, rather than fear, you will know you led a life well lived, to paraphrase a popular poem.
Also, remember that people have been predicting the end of the world for thousands of years (probably more). No one knows when that day will come-- you may have lived a long life, died at a ripe old age and the end is still may be years and years away.
Take heart, you are not alone in this fear.
I know you are not "into" the Bible, and no matter whether you believe Jesus to be the Messiah, a Holy Man or just a very righteous person-- he had wise words on this: "Fear not, for no one knows when that day will come...".

Hang in there, OK? Things do get better as the years go by and you find your place in our crazy world.

People have been predicting the end of the world for the whole of recorded history. It is always around the corner and it always will be. As soon as a deadline for our destruction comes and goes, somebody re-interprets the prediction or they move on to other prophets.

That DOES NOT mean you won't die tomorrow. You actually could be hit by a bus. Or the world could end after all. You actually have the right idea. Live each day as though it might be the last. Now the question is; Do you want to spend your last days worrying? Or doing something worthwhile?

Your fear is very real. The end of the world is inevitable. However, you don't have to allow such thoughts to consume you. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed to any one of us. What you can do while you're here is live each day to the fullest and make sure that you are kind and helpful to others. You will get back from the universe what you put into it. Just keep your belief in the Almighty and everything will be okay. One day at a time........

I am a Christian, and I know in the end, we win. Well, this is what I believe. But here is how I look at life in general. Let's say I walk into a doctor's office and he tells me I have 6 months to live. After I leave his office I cross the street to get to my car. Before I reach my car, a truck runs me over killing me. Gee, I thought I had six months to live. Okay, I don't worry about the future because all things must pass and in God's hands and part of his plan. If you don't believe in God, then why would you worry when they say weather in USA was like Bible Prophecy? Take life one day at a time. You may live to be 120 or this may be your last few years, and you'll never see the end. So why worry?

You shouldn't worry much since you won't even know whether you would die today from a short trip to grocery store or riding a bus that will soon be overtaken by terrorists.

You have to consider that many are theories and if you take different approach by saying that if the bible says it and if the bible is real, then we would have to study and analyze the bible more than the science.

I admit that life and nature are unpredictable and we will never know the true nature, at least in my or your life time. Therefore, theories and predictions are just theories and predictions. If you cannot say with evidence and confidence, then it is no better than trying to understanding what a dog is trying to say. You may guess right or even understand what a dog might want to express by its expression, but you will never truly know.

I guess I really don't know I'm talking about.

There's a deeper problem here. You have to face your immortality. Everyone will die. Everything comes to an end. We all live with death hanging over our heads. You must learn to accept this.
Nothing I can say here will help you. I suggest that you talk with old people, or those soon to die. They will be better able to help you understand. For what it's worth, there is no good reason to believe the world is going to end any time soon. The world as been through much worse than what you have mentioned. Yet, the world kept on existing.

The world is beautiful, but tomorrow is never guaranteed whether the world ends or not. You obviously love this world so if you take steps to help it then maybe you will get over your fear.
Perhaps you can find things to help the world on the Internet. I can relate to you because my mom is into all of the prophecies and its creepy stuff.

Well, This is tuff, but here it goes. I believe that the world and the human body are way too complexed for the big bang theory.I believe in God the Father, God the Son and The Holy Spirit.I believe in the Holy Bible and there are things that are coming to pass from that are predicted in the Bible.I think we are in the last days that the Bible talks about in Revelations. There was a time when I questioned things too, but it takes some faith, common sense, an open mind, and I think a lot of reading and research to understand the big picture.God gives us information in steps and it takes some faith(something you cant see feel). If you step out in faith the door to God will open up, and you will see the world in a different view. The grass is greener and things are clearer once you and God have a relationship.(when you pray openly to him)He will speak to you through your mind, he will keep you safe so there is no reason to worry about the fait of this world if you know Jesus, and just trust him........I hope this makes sense.
