I have to write a 10 page paper in philosophy a page each covering different topics, i am struggling with the first two. Question one: What is a philosophy of life and why is it important ot have one? Question two: What methods will I choose to determine what is true? I understand that there are no right or wrong answers and that everyone may have a different philosophy of life, but i learn by example and would love if anyone might share with me how you would answer. Thank you!!!!

to the two people who took time to answer thank you very much. yes, i do agree it does take alot of introspection, here in lyes the problem. i have thought about this for almost two weeks, and just seem to be stuck I say that a philosophy of life is a series of Q and A to gain knowledge of the meaning of life... I also know about different methods, such as Rationalist, Empiricist, etc. I guess I just need to see an example of a paper on a specific method. I love writing but I feel like my paper is just a bunch of mumbo jumbo, and it is bugging me. but thanks for taking time from your life to help.

Those seem rather opinionated, perhaps with a bit of introspection and honestly you'll discover these answers that lie within your own self. For me, a philosophy of life is simply an ideology to live according to, as though a principles or set of standards or morals regarding a broad spectrum of possible actions to take or choices to make. It's not important to have one per se as much as it is a matter of what means most to the person in question. That'd answer the first question. And what methods that you choose to determine what is true are your own, but my methods are simply as thus: I was gifted with, after much resistance forcing me to grow, a divine sense of logic. Eventually I figured out most everything I needed to know to grow. So if something makes sense to my perspective, I'll take it into serious consideration. Otherwise If I feel and find it holds no pretense, It'll simply be another opinion. I find it best simply to put "in my opinion" behind anything that anyone ever tells you, including this i'm telling you now. To me it's the truth, but only you know what works for you, and you use the knowledge that you intake in order to decide what works best for you. And if you have any sense of what is right for you, i'd say that you probably should do what allows you to feel the most joy and satisfaction. Cause truly there is no real reason of life other than finding your own happiness. Take these answers as you will, and perhaps do a bit of thinking to find your own answers as well.

What is a philosophy of life and why is it important ot have one?

Philosophy of life is trying to find meaning in everyday actions, beliefs etc. It's important to have one to progress and grow in mind and spirit.

What methods will I choose to determine what is true?

That should be your answer. I would definately study, learn different opinions, then cross off ones that dont work for me, and at the end I should have one or two that are true to me. They will remain. Remember, you gotta be open minded to do this.

Your philosophy of life is your guide. The star you steer your ship by. It is what takes you from here to there and back again while keeping you on track all the way. It defines you life and sets your goals. As life takes you along the way, you learn and modify your philosophy to reflect the truths you gain. But always there is the cardinal tentant that will never be modified.
