I don't use either, I use a Mooncup which is a type of menstrual cup – it is bell-shaped and made of silicone, it sits in the vagina collecting blood and because menstrual cups are the only safe internal option it means you can leave a menstrual cup in for up to 12 hours without leaking or health risk, unlike tampons, also unlike tampons menstrual cups are convenient, clean/hygienic, environmentally friendly and cheap.
I used to use tampons before I knew much about my body and learned how dangerous they were, I much preferred pads even back then because the idea of sticking material wads into my vagina never struck me as very good, but then pads I didn't like much as I only knew about commercial pads which are uncomfortable – cloth pads are far more comfortable. Softcups I've tried too, I've also tried free-flow, free-flow layering, diaphragm as a menstrual cup, and organic pads - I still say menstrual cups like Mooncup are best.
As for your questions about pads, it depends totally on what sort of pads you are talking about – commercial pads, organic pads or cloth pads? With wings, G-style, folded style? You have over twenty different menstrual options to choose from and a lot of different types of things like pads as well as different brands, it's a big choice – I personally recommend cloth pads to start off with then move onto a silicone menstrual cup if you want to use something internal - http://www.divacup.com - for cloth pads I also advise either padded panties - http://www.lunapads.com - or G-style pads - http://www.reddyspads.com
Most pads have means to keep them in place;
Commercial pads and organic pads have sticky backing and often wings to keep them in place. Cloth pads are kept in place by Velcro or popper fasteners, often with wings, pads like G-style pads are worn with belts to hold them close to your body so they don't move, and padded panties are just like underwear but with padding so they keep blood from getting out.
A lot of people use period blankets to prevent blood getting on their beds at night when they use pads or cups (you cannot use tampons for bed!) even wrapping themselves up in the period blankets when they get up.

TAMPONS! Pads suck because you should sit there in blood at day. i began utilizing tampons at 12 years previous. no longer some thing is faulty with utilizing tampons on your first era, its the age component some human beings imagine 11 3 hundred and sixty 5 days olds do not want to be sticking issues up their vag. Tampons do damage somewhat before each and every thing yet you get used to it.

Not if you use a regular pad, not a lites, and keep checking it. You will usually need to change it at least once during the day just cause it gets icky. At night, use a thicker pad made for nights, Stayfree Overnites work really well. As long as you keep up with it, the blood won't get everywhere. I personally use pads and tampons, but then my periods are really heavy. Just whatever feels normal for you.

I think tampons are better....buit it is a personal choice.
Pads do get blood all over you when you sleep if you sleep too long or don't use a super absorbency. Pads move around way too much in my opinion. They bunch up, stick to your butt and thighs, and the blood just gets everywhere and you feel disgusting.

I wear tampons during the day, but pads at night and around the house.
For sleeping I use the "overnight" pads which are long and usually have wings. I am pretty heavy, and very rarely do they leak.
Just make sure that they say Overnight on the package.

Don't wear tampons at night. Risk TSS. The blood does nto get everywhere because the pad is kidna long so it will soak the blood up. Depends if your flow is light or heavy. You cxan put toilet paper in too at the back to stop the blood getting on your sheets. sometimes it will accidentally get a spot on your pants in the day or on your sheets at night. I usually put toilet paper there so the blood doesn't get on the sheets it gets on the toilet paper instead. Email me if you have any concerns or problems. Thx.

it depends on how heavy you are bleeding, and yes there is a big chance that it will leak a bit onto your pants if it is heavy. It also feels uncomfortable when you're sitting for a long time (like in class) then you get up. Yuck. I would suggest tampons if you're not afraid to use it.

yes, blood goes everywhere. but i would never sleep with a tampon because you have to worry about toxic shock syndrome. (some people even die) so, i believe it's worth it!
