Yep, sadly, flatulence is a normal part of pregnancy. I imagine it has to do with the baby moving around and putting varying amounts of pressure on the bowels. The hormones circulating through her system probably contribute, too. So suck it up...it won't last forever!

Yes, it's very normal, but, unfortunately, there's not a whole lot you can do about it.

The digestive track slows down when a woman becomes pregnant, causing excess gas to build up. It can become very painful, especially in late pregnancy.

The best thing for her to do is watch what she eats. Broccoli, legumes (beans), artificial sweeteners, onions, carbonated beverages, and drinking through a straw can cause excess gas. If it gets to be a serious problem, she can ask her OBGYN or midwife at her next visit.

So very normal. And it gets worse and smellier just wait. Heres a little embarrassing story. One night when I was pregnant with our son {hes 8 months now} I couldn't sleep so I was laying in bed listening to the AC running. My husband next to me sound asleep snoring like he aways does. He's a very heavy sleeper I swear a tornado could rip through the house and he wouldn't hear it. Anyhow as I lay there I farted so loud he shot straight up in bed and said "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT" I pretended to be sleeping until i couldn't contain my laughter anymore and he asked what was so funny, and I told him I had just farted and he said "well stop that S*** it scared me"

That baby, and a womb full of fluid, is sitting in her lower abdomen and squashing her internal organs. She is probably also constipated, another fun side effect of pregnancy, which may be causing her gas. So yes, I would say it is pretty normal. Anyway, lots of men don't seem able to control their farting either.

yes. also she could be moody, wanting a particular or strange food, be tired, sad, depressed, happy, did i mention moody? it's because of all the hormones. All normal. and actually i read somewhere that an "average" person farts 8 or more times in a day.it's bad to hold your fart.

Absolutely, the amount of gas in your system increases and also the pressure on your intestines. It can be a flatulant combination. I'm only 7 weeks and its already starting.

Yes. When you are pregnant your body releases hormones that signal the smooth muscle in your body to loosen and stretch. This is so your uterus will be able to stretch to accommodate the baby. Unfortunately, you intestines also stretch which causes indigestion, gas, bloating and heartburn.

Oh sure, burping too. There's very little room in there right now so her digestion is crowded and...what goes in, must come out!
