Then does y=0?

Since you are given the two equations y=4x+6 and y=5x, they both are equal to y right? So, you can substitute 4x+6 into the equation y=5x for y right? Therefore, you get

4x+6 = 5x
Subtract 4x from both sides
6=x

You can also do it by substituting 5x for y in the equation y=4x+6

5x = 4x+6
Subtract 4x from both sides
x=6

Hope this helps!

Y = 4x + 6 when Y = 5x

5x = 4x + 6
[subtract so that you have the variable on only one side]
5x [-4x] = 4x[-4x] +6
x = 6

If x = 6, then:

Y = 4[6] + 6
Y = 24 + 6
Y = 30

OR

Y = 5[6]
Y = 30

Step 1. 5x=4x+6
Step 2. 5x-4x=6
Step 3. x=6

y=4x+6
y=5x
Equating the two expressions for y, we get:
5x=4x+6. It is also equivalent to sustituting for y from the second equation into the first. This leads to x=6.
Putting this value of x in, say, the second equation, we get:
y =30
Answer: x=6,y=30.
Verify that the answer satisfies the two equations.

Well you would substitute 5x for the y. 5x=4x+6. Then you have to get the x's on the same side, so subtract 4x out of both sides. And then you have the answer.

Take the value for y in the second equation and plug it into the first equation. 5x = 4x + 6. Now, you isolate the variable and solve for x. 0 = -x + 6. -6 = -x. x=6.

y= 4x+6 Replace the Y with what it equals
5x=4x+6 Get both Variables on one side by useing the opposite of addition. What you do to one side of the equals sign you do to the other side.
-4x=-4x (5x-4x=1x) (4x-4x=0)
x=6

y=4x+6
substitute y for 5x
so 5x=4x+6
-4x -4x
x=6

plug in 6 for x in either problem

y=4(6)+6 or y=5(6)
y=24+6 or y=30
y=30

so the answer would be (6,30)
or x=6 and y=30

y=5x so..

5x = 4x+6
-4x -4x
1x = 6
x = 6 so..

y= 5x
y = 5 x 6

y = 30

If y=5x then 5x=4x+6

solve:

5x-4x=4x-4x+6
x=6
