Because if the parents did their job properly - the child would have no reason to be acting this way. Children, who were raised properly, sometimes want to copy other children (with bad habits) and try those same tricks at home. They think that if the other children don't get into trouble doing these things - then it must be OK to do the same at home - NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My grand daughters have tried this and their parents sat them down right away and told them what was acceptable and what wasn't. It took them a while to realize the other kids were teaching them bad habits. Now, they just don't copy the other kids anymore because they know if they do - they get in trouble at home and get grounded.
So yes, parents will blame the bad behavior on a child's friend especially if child's behavior changes all of a sudden.
One day, in the future, when you're a parent you will understand this a whole lot more.

When a child starts doing bad in school and being disrespectful it is usually because of the people they are hanging out with, their home situation, or a combination of both.

Friends are a VERY influencial force in a teenager's life, but it's not always friends. It could be depression, a cry for attention, or, sometimes, drug or alcohol abuse.

Is it your parents that are accusing you of being swayed by your friends? If so, they could be on to something. Just listen to your parents. Sometimes, they know what they're talking about. If something is bothering you, talk to your parents about it. Hopefully, they'll be loving and understanding.

Apparently I am one of those "friends" that other parents claim causes their daughters to do bad in school and to be disrespectful. It's so offensive.

Majority of the time it is due to the fact that there child is a follower . Like the saying goes you are who you hang out with .

Parents don't want to think it is their fault for not filtering what is wrong and what is right because good kids can hang with bad kids and still be good.

because usually it is. they know how they raised you to act. and if you are acting against how they've raised you obviously the friends you hang with are rubbing their bad behaviors off on you. my nephew's friends are gettin him into trouble more than enough. he finally learned his lesson when he wound up in the back of a cop car. it was enough to straighten him out unfotunately he may end up in juvey anyway for one stupid thing his friends talked him into.
