Here is the situation. I am getting a divorce. This divorce should have been done with months ago. Instead what has happened is this divorce has lasted almost 12 months. We have no kids and it is just basically about dividing up the money and all the belongings. Her lawyers have lost several documents and my lawyers dont seem to be paying attention to what i am telling them. They scheduled a hearing even without all the final division of money has been decided on . I have not signed the final decree yet because her lawyers cant seem to get all the changes done. They seem to change one thing and then that is it. And we then have to start all over again. They tell me know we need to get the court date done because they are changing where the final hearing will be. I highly doubt this. And I dont see how you can go in to a hearing and havent decided on how to split up the bills and the money. Any help and suggestions would be good . Is thier some govt. assoc. I can complain too.

I really feel for you, sir. It is hard enough going through a divorce and then your Lawyers dragging their feet with it all. Lawyers are known to drag thing out and then claim more money with their fees and depositions and written paper and faxes and anything they can transfer the final costs to you. I'm not putting down lawyers, they do work hard. Just tell them firmly that you have to wrap this up and finish it!! That 12 months is long enough!!! Tell them and sound like you mean it! My 2 cents worth. Good luck

You both are getting played for chumps Fire them both, and no, you are being used, there is no association to which you can complain... this is common practice.....

Then agree on how your settlement should be done, who get what, yadayada..... have a list... Look in the yellow pages under --Attorney -- divorce -- mediating.... You are in an adverserial position, and these two attorneys are the only ones who will come out ahead....(If you get out for less that $3000 each, consider yourselves lucky......) and they are using you --- ahhh sad but true... ("What do they call 500 attorneys at the bottom of the ocean???? ans: a good start.")

When you use the same attorney, he/she fills out your papers as you both instruct, and files for you... he represents you both.... if you are in agreement, the cost is $75-300 depending on the city and state... you get a final date, you are mailed papers, done deal in 6 months
