make a rectangular shape at the top-middle of ur head.then brush down the sides and pull them up to make a ponytail.And make the ponytail without the top piece.Once u have done that pull the top piece up and brush it so it isnt lumpy.Then pull it back and make hump then use a clip and it back near ur pony tail.

Back comb the bit you want poofy and spray it and keep backcombing and spraying until its big enough then pin it into place. Smooth the top of it over the rest a little bit so it doesn't just look like a big tangled mess.
Then smooth the rest round into a ponytail.
