Yes I would and I did, I was told my son had Bifid thorn which means a partidura in the thorn, that is that the spine has not been closed completely. And guess what? My baby boy came out ok he wasn't born with that condition and now he's 9 years old.

Thats a really hard queaion to answer. I always thought I would keep the baby, but I now have to daughters and if i was pregnant and found out that the baby had MAJOR defects it would be really hard to decide. As I have to take into account how it would effect my other children and my mental state etc.
I personally dont like the idea of abortions for myself so I would probably keep the baby, unless it wasnt going to survive long after birth. I dont think I could handle being pregnant for 9 months and becoming attached to the baby and giving birth and then watching it die the same day. Even if I did abort I would still be attached to the baby and would still grieve for the baby.
I think you just have to be in that position to make that decision. As you never know when thinking about these things in a hypothetical how you are going to react, what will be wrong with the baby, your mental state, how it will effect your health, the impact it will have on you and family etc.
My Mum has always said if she ever had a baby with defects she would abort as she wouldnt do that to the child and wouldnt be able to handle it. I think thats fair enough.

Honestly, it depends on what the defect was. For an example, a cleft lip is considered a defect and I would never abort that baby. If I knew he/she was going to be born and suffer his/her whole life, then I probably would abort the baby. Don't get me wrong I am against abortion but I can't stand to see a baby or child suffer!

Yes, the decision in it self wouldn't be hard. It a human being that deserves life. If it won't be able to life, your body will reject the fetus because of dis-function. I know life is going to be much harder with a child not being fully healthy, but I would love it with all my heart and take care of it as much that would lay in my ability.

these are very deep and important questions - probably to deep for yahoo answers if you are dealing with his in real life. if you are, get some real counseling before listen to here.
of course the defect is pretty important, as another poster said, a cleft lip is a small problem where no heart/brain begs the question "what's the point of continuing of continuing?"

ALWAYS. I have three children with disabilities, which didn't manifest until they were over 2 years of age...and they are still the most amazing creations I've ever had the honor to know. They have a purpose on this earth like each and every other person!

Yes I would have the child...reason one--abortion is murder, and two God gives people "special needs" babies for a reason and he then gives those people the strength and wisdom to deal with it. Imagine the things God has in store for that baby. Also, we're all defective in our own little way.

Depends on the defect and what the outlook is for the fetus' quality of life.
My husband and I have the same view.

I hate to admit to it but no I don't think I would given the choice and knowledge before hand. For that reason I have not opted to have the genetic testing done with any of my pregnancies. So far I have been very blessed with healthy children.

I would have the baby and if I knew that I could not properly provide for the baby with birth defects then I would put him/her up for adoption so that someone could provide for him with the life that he needs and deserves.
