My friend recently had a an episode where she passed out on a bus because she was bleeding really bad (menstrually speaking), She is going to visit her doctor the next couple of days but I was wondering if anyone knows what may have caused this. She's not sexually active (100% positive on this point), and she only gets a period once every three of four months. I'm curious because i'm worried for her and worried that she won't know what questions she needs to ask her doctor.

This has actually happened to my mother. It happened because she was bleeding too much, had actually lost too much blood. It was the same as hemorrhaging. She needs to be sure and explain to the doctor how much she is bleeding, how often she has to change sanitary items, how long her period lasts. Is she taking birth control pills (even though not sexually active). Hope all goes well.

It sounds like she might be anemic. Women who have heavy period lose iron from menstruation. The doctor will do a simple blood test, tell her to take iron pills and will most likely put her on some form of birth control.

This happened to me every month in high school. I had to track it and stay home. She probably has dysmenorrhea or ovarian cysts. They are pretty common and her doctor can give her medication to help ease the pain. Birth control is most helpful. She should be fine.

Sounds like she may have something called a "fibroid" growing in her uterus. It creates hemhorrage. She will need to get it checked out.
