As others have said, it depends on the species. However, the cells of many animals, including humans, have an even number of chromosomes because they occur in pairs.
Thus, we don't have 23 chromosomes but 23 pairs, i.e. 46 chromosomes.
The only cells with half that number in our bodies are the sexual cells or gametes (eggs and spermatozoids).

Here's a link with data for many species, I hope it helps:

Since this is from wikipedia, I suggest you check with a scientific source before using these data. You can search in Google Scholar:

Edit: no, we don't have 23 pairs PLUS the sexual pair. We have 23 pairs total, including 22 somatic pairs and the sexual pair.
See an illustration (it's called karyotype) here:

A cell just by being eukaryotic does not have a certain number of chromosomes. It would depend on the type of cell and from what species it originated.

Hope this helps.

It depends on what species it is. For example humans have 23 pairs plus the sex chromosomes X and Y. Dogs have 38 pairs, which explains why different dog breeds can vary so much. Horses have 32 pairs, while the humble rice plant has only 12 pairs. However, ALL eukaryotic cells have *paired* chromosomes.

Human cells have 46 chromosomes in regular body cells and 23 in gametes. Here's a site that tells chromosome numbers for some other living things.

It depends on the organism that they are in. Eukaryotic cells are present in animals, plants, fungi and protist in opposition to procaryotic cells that form bacteria. Hope it helps!

It depends on the species being analysed, but in humans it is 23.
