I posted a question a while ago for cute name suggestions for pet rats. I got a ton of good suggestions but I'm still uncertain which one I want to pick. I decided I wanted to get another male rat. I was considering naming the 2 rats Mario and Luigi.

What do you think? Any more name suggestions are welcome. Even though I already got a ton to pick from..Im always open for more. (I like weird names)

thanks, but I didnt ask for your opinion on whether or not I should have them, and if you like them or not. If you think theyre nasty, dont buy them. Simple huh?

Yeah, I know you like weird names, LOL! :D
I can't get the name D'con out of my head since you suggested it for someone else. D'con is a brand of rat poison.

The names Mario and Luigi remind me of big, rotund, men.
Since adult male rats get big, boofy, and squishy as adults, I can picture your rats with these names.

I like names that are creative and different as well, even if it means spelling a common name differently. My dog's name is Stone, but I spell it Stoan, to be different. Because we often think of rats as "palm dogs" I like the same names that suit dogs to be used for rats as well.

I have so much fun looking up names for my rats. I look up pet names, and human names, on the internet, and in books. I watch the credits of tv shows and movies and find names from there. I have a big book of names that I have been adding to ever since I was 8 years old. There are far too many names in that book to list here.

I have 4 rats that were born Dec. 31,2006. There were 5 but the runt died after 3 days. Their mother's name is Xylia, she's an Agouti and looks like a wild rat. Her name is Greek, and means "of the woods". So I went way out on a limb and chose Hobbit names for her babies, because Hobbits live in the earth like rats do.

Female Mink Pebbled-variberk Rex Top-eared
named "Amber "Puddles" Puddifoot"
Male American Blue Pebbled-veriberk Rex Top-eared
named "Chubby "Root" Fleetfoot"
Male Agouti Pebbled-veriberk Rex Dumbo
named "Alder "?" Proudfoot"
Male Pink-eyed White Rex Top-eared
named "Gemini "Gem" Whitfoot"
How do you like that for weird?

I've written many lists, of many rat names, for many people here at Yahoo! Answers, and in the end, choosing a name for your rats is very personal and should not be decided by someone else. We can't see your rats, we can't feel their personalities, like you can.

Rachel has answered this question and she is understandably ignorant, having never had pet rats. Rachel, our pet rats have been so domesticated over the last 100 years that they have lost the survival skills that would allow them to survive in the wild. Our pet rats are as far removed from their wild cousins as the dog is removed from the wolf. Would you consider letting a poodle go free in the forest and expect it to fend for itself?
ME, once you've had a rat for a pet, there's no going back.

That would be cute for a pair of rats. After all, rats love going in and out of tubes and jumping for things ;)

We have three rats. Only one is a male though and his name is Daxter. I personally like Luigi. . . .
Our other two female rat names are Cheza and Luna.

Fluffernutter is cute and Panndora is not the best name in my opinion. Also isn't it spelled Pandora?
